The origin of the badges line is from the 1948 adaptation of the novel The Treasure of the Sierra Madre. Brooks stole the line for Blazing Saddles. It wasn't used in The Three Amigos. I really like that you guys read your comments. It feels like it's a real community of producers and fans. BTW, give EJ a raise.

“Stinking badges” originally came from Treasure of Sierra Madre. It is part of long quote but not used as the more the popular version. BUT, “Badges? We don’t need no stinkin’ badges!” Came from the greatest comedy of all time, Blazing Saddles.

But wasn't it actually an line originally from a Humphrey Bogart film, "Treasure of the Sierra Madre"...and when they said it in Blazing Saddles it was actually an homage to the classic Bogart flick? I am doing this all from memory. I'm 51 years old and vaguely remember watching the Bogart film as a kid...and of course Blazing saddles many times over!

You had me smiling about the Google thing. I would say I go there often to verify or learn about something y’all discuss. However did you ever wonder who told Google all the things? Like how did the info in the card catalogs get to Google? Did someone have to type it all in? These are the things I think of.

"Get it off my chest" refers to a medieval form of torture in which boulders were slowly placed on a person's chest until they suffocated, it was also a method used in order to get witches to confess. It does coincide with one's attempt to relieve oneself of guilt. During the Salem Witch trials, Giles Corey gave testimony that convicted his wife, who was hanged. When he himself was accused of witchcraft he refused to confess so he was crushed to death over a 3-day period. I took a train from California to Colorado when I was like 15 to stay with my dad one year it was pretty interesting when you eat your put at people's table you don't know I think that was the strangest part but taking a train through Colorado's mountains is breathtaking just beautiful..

Took a train in the early 70's from Cincy to Virginia Beach, took 18 hours, could have driven in 10. Best train is bullet from Montreal to Toronto, goes along Lake Ontario coast and thru a nice park. High speed, and very scenic.
