I first visited Phra Nang and Railay in 1989. It was all jungle and just a handful of bungalows. Ao Nang was jungle. What a change compared to now!

that path through the center has been improved since we were there in 2017. had quite a bit of rain during our visit and it was muddy and walking through big puddles . we stayed on the east side at Avatar . great place . would always opt the stay there rather than a day trip .

I was there a few years back. Stayed at Rayavadee the resort you mentioned. It was mind boggling….. amazing. The street you walk up was not there when I went a few years back. Ha, ha….. was walking there today, thought it had a very nice vibe to it. Fabulous!

Next time you must hike up the rope hill! There’s a secret lagoon and view point.. go at high tide tide so its full and bring the drone would make an epic lift off spot inside since the walls are vertical

I have been to Railey twice while staying Ao Nang on both occasions. I will say that Phra Nang and West Railey beaches are stunning but East Railey beach wasn't the best. There is also neighbouring Tonsai Beach which is also nice

Thanks for the memories, Jeroen! 15 years ago and my first time in Thailand, my girlfriend at the time and I went to Railay for 10 days. The boat that took us there dropped us off in knee and waist high water we had to wade through to walk to the beach while carrying our bags up high. Very exotic and cool. We had a great time. Stayed on the mangrow (east?) side. Watched a big male monkey snatch a can of Coke out of Chinese tourists hands. Be careful. And I was definitely one of the only farang, where I see so many more in your video. Wow, a lot has changed! Thanks!
