Not experiencing the same thing is fine. Because some things can be learnt by observing. But the problem with this particular family is that they don't learn. They have no empathy for others and don't really have basic respect for regular people.

Caste discrimination is rooted not in religion but culture. Caste was an ancient system of occupational class delineated in Hindu texts that over the years developed into a rigid social hierarchy. The lowest castes, or untouchables, were marginalized and faced persecution. Caste-based discrimination is not intrinsic to Hinduism and should not be thought of as religiously sanctioned. the poorer workers involved in 'unclean' occupations such as sweeping or leather work were historically segregated and banished outside the city limits. Over time, personal cleanliness came to be identified with "purity", and the concept of untouchability eventually spread to the rural areas. Manusmriti text was never implemented as a law code in ancient India. The caste system as it exists today is the result of developments during the rise of the British colonial government in India. The British Raj furthered this development, making rigid caste organisation a central mechanism of administration. By 1860 the British formulated the caste system into their system of governance, granting administrative jobs and senior appointments only to Christians and people belonging to certain castes.

The English word caste (/kɑːst, kæst/) derives from the Spanish and Portuguese casta, which, according to the John Minsheu's Spanish dictionary (1569), means "race, lineage, tribe or breed". When the Spanish colonised the New World, they used the word to mean a 'clan or lineage'. It was, however, the Portuguese who first employed casta in the primary modern sense of the English word 'caste' when they applied it to the thousands of endogamous, hereditary Indian social groups they encountered upon their arrival in India in 1498. The use of the spelling caste, with this latter meaning, is first attested in English in 1613. In the Latin American context, the term caste is sometimes used to describe the casta system of racial classification, based on whether a person was of pure European, Indigenous or African descent, or some mix thereof, with the different groups being placed in a racial hierarchy; however, despite the etymological connection between the Latin American casta system and South Asian caste systems (the former giving its name to the latter), it is controversial to what extent the two phenomena are really comparable. Modern India's caste system is based on the artificial modern superimposition of an old four-fold theoretical classification called the Varna on the social groupings called the Jāti. Varna conceptualised a society as consisting of four types of varnas, or categories: Brahmin, Kshatriya, Vaishya and Shudra, according to the nature of the work of its members. Varna was not an inherited category and the occupation determined the varna. However, a person's Jati is determined at birth and makes them take up that Jati's occupation; members could and did change their occupation based on personal strengths as well as economic, social and political factors. The caste system as it exists today is thought to be the result of developments during the collapse of the Mughal era and the rise of the British colonial government in India. The British Raj furthered this development, making rigid caste organisation a central mechanism of administration. Between 1860 and 1920, the British incorporated the Indian caste system into their system of governance, granting administrative jobs and senior appointments only to Christians and people belonging to certain castes. Social unrest during the 1920s led to a change in this policy. Caste was no longer used by the colonial authority to functionally organize civil society. This reflected changes in administrative practices, understandings of expertise, and the rise of new European scholarly institutions. After the 1920s, the colonial administration began a policy of positive discrimination by reserving a certain percentage of government jobs for the lower castes. In 1948, negative discrimination on the basis of caste was banned by law and further enshrined in the Indian constitution in 1950; however, the system continues to be practiced in parts of India. There are 3,000 castes and 25,000 sub-castes in India, each related to a specific occupation.

Even if you don't want to, you keep thinking of him in the shadow of the Nehru-Gandhi-Vadra clan even when he says he's not into politics because of what courses he's taking up, from politics to religion in university showing what he's looking to do in the future. The art is a kind of distraction for the masses. They all want the power but want to show they're not really interested, just like his uncle and he's maternal grandpa. Now that his uncle doesn't have the power, his desperation for power shows at the level of politics he's engaging in. Raihan also wants it but wants to show the masses he's really not interested in. That's how politics functions. Giving wrong notions to the public at large. Also, listening to him one gets an idea of how his uncle is because they both think and speak on the same lines. It's a class thing. Moreover, learning about eastern spirituality and religions from a Western university speaks volumes of what they'd learn and what reality is in India and South Asia at large. After Indira Gandhi, the Gandhi family surrounded themselves with advisors who're of the same.class as themselves and had no knowledge of ground realities. Bharat has changed, and moved on to capitalism. These people are still living in the Nehruvian socialist era and want to take the country back to that era.

It is just unfathomable to get the common perspective about what people go through with his upbringing, how is art and culture don't fill stomach, they only clear the mind for the bourgeoisie. 20-30 years down the line, he'll be hoodwinking as the secular "posterboy" against Hindutva maniacs
