Raiatea Highlights | The Sacred Island | French Polynesia

We rented a car to drive around Raiatea to the biggest Maraes, sacred sights to ancient Polynesians. Raiatea is home to the biggest and most important mareae in Frnech Polynesia - Taputapuatea, a large complex of many marae that hosted political and religious gatherings and saw chiefs crowned and sacrifices made. Although not known for beaches, Raiatea has beauty in both the lush, green interior and the shores with views of the lagoon and ocean.
Here, we fly into Riaitea, visit Marae Tainuu which is now the sight of the oldest protestant church on Raiatea, and visit the marae coplex of Taputapuatea while seeing some beautiful scenery. To end the day, we see one of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen from our Hotel Raiatea Lodge balcony.

I loved the mountains on this island, so pretty. The maraes really are impressive in person. I had read about them but didn't realise they'd be so big. I edited this a while ago, so no French...just wait!! (I'm working on Bora Bora....so maybe...!!) Thank you so much for watching. Have a great week!

Another beautiful video about a place we don't know a lot about. We enjoyed learning about Raiatea. The marae was an appropriate place to build that church. It was lovely hearing the singing in the background as you explored. Marae was a new word to us so that was interesting to hear about the purposes these areas served in the culture of the time. Thanks for sharing this!

That singing was sublime. I stood there for a while just listening The church didn't have windows because it's so hot so the sound carried. I'd never heard of a marae either but what incredible places they are! They are ancient but still mean so much to the Polynesians. So glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for watching!

This is where my people are really from! I’m a Māori. Indigenous to Aotearoa(NewZealand) but we were once here with our brothers and sisters. I believe our people got washed up in nz while exploring and made it there new home! We officially took the title of Māori when we first encountered the white men. Our beliefs and story’s of our gods are all the same

Thank you for the amazing history. I've now been to a few South Pacific islands and am amazed at the navigational skills and fearlessness of your people. I know you are so proud of that heritage and you should be. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and for watching.

We dodnt officially take the title it was given to us by English colonizers. The Queen who is titled sovereign through her bloodline. We are Sovereign. We arent anyones property know this. And yes we have Marae here in Aotearoa. Hahuru marae is my Fathers marae who descends from Tuwharetoa and Ngatoroirangi Te Arawa and also Tamatekapua who descends from Uenukukopako Rarotonga. But yes our ancestors are from here but the Maori name was given from English Colonizers. And is mentioned in the Treaty and Declaratio. Of Independence. . We know the dirty deeds of the Queen

Raiatea, the goddess, is pictured briefly in the Disney movie “Moana,” as a giant sea serpent. The story is a technology. Cumming in fresh water and salt water evolves different kinds of eels from the sperm growing up. In Mein Kampf, Hitler recounts his overhearing that Jews make a different kind of cum from French Polynesians. This is accurate. Jews make Moray eels in salt water, while French (default) raced fathers make brown sea snakes.

Raiatea organisms that don’t swim but bound, can be had from commingled blood from different animals, too. A human sperm in blood - all blood contains sperm - mingled with a Labrador sperm-blood makes a Rottweiler if well heated like in a warm batter in a household bath. So, Rottweiler is comparable to the human-human bath of blood baby called batboy.

"Hawaiki Nui" it was called in the ancient times. One the superior god was Oro the god of war then there was Ta'aroa the father of all. Mount Temahani or Mount To'omaru is where all the gods and souls were born and came ou of. The island of Creation of the Ma'ohi's universe.

@@TravelswithVandSteve thank you. We believe "Mount Temehani" is where all the Polynesian souls (varua) throughout the Polynesian Triangle or the diasporas elsewhere around the world shall return eventually. This is some powerful stuffs when you think of it. You can feel the "Mana" when you hear this. I'm also a guide on Tahiti so whenever I take tourists to one of our Maraes over here I have to talk about our Cosmogony (the beginning) so they get the picture as to why these structures were important, they still are, so they get the big picture.

Whats to say Aotearoa doesnt have the same shit in the rivers. Have you seen the pollution in Aotearoa waters. Some areas are clean yes. But some are toxic. Spraying chemicals in the food is toxic also.

Appropriate to build a church to the white man's god on top of an ancient sacred site...?

I thought it was appropriate that Tahitians now worship where the ancients worshiped but I can understand your point completely. Thank you for sharing it with us.
