Rahul Gandhi's interaction with Tribal Groups in Diphu, Assam on February 25, 2014

Rahul Gandhi interacted with Tribal Groups in Diphu, Assam on February 25, 2014.
While interacting with tribal groups in Assam, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi said other politicians visit and give speeches, but he had come to "hear the voice of tribal's of Assam and address their grievances."
Congress party, he said, believes in giving power to the people, which is in sharp contrast to the outlook of other political parties, who believe in "centralized control".
"More power to people will be better for the country. It would take India further on the path of development. That will happen only when 50 per cent of our population, that is women, are represented in decision making bodies," Rahul Gandhi said.
While interacting with representatives of nine Tribal Autonomous Councils, he promised the issue of lack of funds would be addressed after carefully going through the nuances of the subject.
He thanked the people of Assam for their participation in the process of Primaries - a novel idea which has been implemented for the first time in country by the Congress party. Rahul Gandhi remembered Nido and wished for peace and unity across the country. He thanked the council chiefs for their cooperation and hard work toward nation building.
