Now I know where I'll be in July 2014. It's amazing how in Finland people can barely be bothered to open their mouths to talk, much less sing, unless actually interested in singing, whereas Estonia simply gets 25,000 singers and a massive audience (and the percentage of the country!) to create something breathtaking. There's a reason for the Singing Revolution - how could anyone resist the enormous choir singing for freedom? Keep singing.

I pray that the Estonians never lose their song as so many others have.

The song is called "Peace", in the sense of a human soul, that is, about the endless human journey in search for true peace, and of course, only Love can give it. The song is about state of a man who is deeply in love with a woman. If you are very in love and you are a man, you feel like you can find your peace only with the woman. Its a really male love song. A piece describes how the singer should "be silent" about his feelings: "Kõik mida tunnen pean vaikima maha." Its very male problem. All the songs how you can not talk about your feelings are about male love. The lyrics is written by Urmas Alender, singer songwriter who was killed in MS Estonia disaster 1994.

uskumatu, mida see laul on mulle läbi aegade tähendanud... Algul oli see pigem kui isamaaline laul... siis oli justkui armastuslugu... kõige lõpuks oli see aga lugu pühendatud inimesele, keda me elus enam pole.. kes ei saanud sellel laulupeol osaleda... Temale on see laul pühendatud. Ta laulis seda alati niihea meelega... hiljem laulsime meie seda talle.......

Kind of bored on a Sunday morning, so I'll have a go at an English translation. (Lived in Estonia for a couple years and my wife is Estonian, so hopefully it's accurate enough. Translating songs is really hard.) I can enter silence, light, and purity if I but overcome myself, I believe in you as a sure city, don't fly away.
