Sal Baig was a Grt devotee of Jagannath. His written Bhajans are still being sung in Odisha. Being a Muslim, he was not allowed entry into temple. On Rathyatra day the God's Chariot did not move an inch without Sal Baig pulling the rope. Same with Dasia Nauru (a dalit). Legend has it the God came in King's dreams to tell him he wants Dasia's Coconut Prasad who was not allowed inside the temple. This is Jagannath culture of Odisha.

@@yogitasharma9120 dalits are allowed there but not the muslims because from last 500 years many foreign powers tried to destroy the temple of jaganath and that's why only hindus are allowed neither foreigners nor people from another religion
500 saal nhi, Jagannath mandir 5000 saal purana hai. The present temple is 1000 years old. Do not propagate wrong information's. Do research and present such sensitive topics.

This Jagannath Temple was constructed by the king, after bhagawan krishna came to his dream & told him that he is at Puri. The actual temple is beneath the existing temple. When the king could only see the chakra of the old temple which was buried in sand, he tried to dig it, but was not successful in digging it, then he built a new temple over it. Some say that he excavated the old temple, but has locked it so that no invaders could find the old temple to destroy it. Only some selected temple person may know about the secret doors.
