@@mr.tomatohead3709 not really, LaMotta never stopped Ray. Ray "stopped" LaMotta in their 6th and last fight, Saint Valentine's Day Massacre, and even then it was stopped on a feet.

What I got from it was the same things that gave him great success in the ring were the same reasons his life fell apart outside of it. At the end of the day he was just a mindless fighter (a raging bull if you excuse the pun), always trying to pick a fight even if there wasn’t one (seen by how he fights multiple friends and family for reasons he self fabricated). So a lot of it was essentially ego, but even if he couldn’t be mad or jealous at someone for ‘betraying’ him or ‘cheating’ on him he would have just found another reason or another person to fight.
