Ragging is a deadly ‘rite of passage’ & the system is failing our students| #SnapOpinion

Despite laws and awareness campaigns, ragging continues to claim lives on Indian campuses. The tragic cases of a Rajasthan medical student needing dialysis and multiple injuries at an Arunachal Pradesh boarding school highlight a deep-seated problem. Institutions and authorities must confront this toxic culture before more lives are lost.

There should not only be a awareness of deterrence mechanism at the entrance level. But strong will to put pressure on the university/ institution to implement and enforce the penal action on student. It should also extend to every semester level for students who participate and instigate the ragging activities. Make it very hard for them academically & financially. And to also make it very hard to go next level of academic pursuits. It's very easy to say and upload videos regarding this subject, but difficult to implement. Because, the universitys are in the business of making money and usually have political connections. 😂 But it can be done...to purge this more than 3-decade old sadistic practice at our Indian universities.

The problem of ragging isn't an institutional problem, but a social problem. This means that the solution to this problem cannot be institutional (anti ragging squads etc) but it should be social (discussing the effects and need of extensive ragging)

@@itsbonkerjojo9028 Rite = Ritual. Just like how a Ritual is conducted at Marriage or at new House warming event, the ritual of Ragging is being followed to bring together Juniors & seniors of a college.

I studied in JNV and I know ragging done to juniors by seniors like juniors are force to do 200 sit down and up... Or wash seniors bath room with 24 buckets of waters or go to all 24 beds ( one dormitories 24 beds) one by one and everyone will slap you sometime you have to wash their cloths, or bring their food from mess to dormitory..... Etc I am sure it is still happening.

I think Senior should gave him hard dare 1000 pushup in 2 minutes. Junior think they are smart but they are kids infront of seniors. Good job Senior.🎉🎉
