RAGE - THE GEORGE LEEMAN RANT

This one is for all the people who claim all the drugs, all the weights lifted and all the sacrifices these Olympians and the world's strongest lifters go thru aren't worth it because "it isn't healthy"...
Thanks for the epic piano soundtrack:

The people who seem to succeed the most at least when powerlifting was an actual hardcore sport (it’s gotten a lot more like Olympic lifting with technique and very methodical training) were all suicidal and somewhat insane people. People like Captain Kirk and a lot of the westside guys were legit dangerous crazy guys

This guy knows what sacrifices are needed to be elite at powerlifting. Eyes truly wide open and has fully accepted the price. A philosophical beast.

George was a beast. Watching his journey to 900 in the gym, and in competition was an incredible thing. He went fucking nuclear when he lost his Dad.

That's just not the right vibe man, George was great because he was miserable and that misery made him aggressive. His career was as sombre as it was intense, that was just George. He's doing better now and is still a 140kg beast 💪 but he's much better now.

I mean, you've also probably not deadlifted 900lb. You definitely didn't do it in an era when only a couple people had ever pulled 900 before.

You're using really old videos. George nowadays doesn't give a shit about anything other than investing and enjoying himself.

All of what you are talking about is not something an ordinary average person can understand. Powerlifting is a tough sport, so it's not for the average person. What really pisses me is when some Joe below average who is not a powerlifter, never was, and probably never did a sport in their life tries to ridicule the sport and the people who do it. Yet, they can't even address the sport by its correct name. These people call it "weightlifting",and they can't even understand the simple concept that they are similar yet different. I explain that weightlifting consists of the snatch along with the clean and jerk. Powerlifting consists of the squat, bench press, and deadlift. A perfect analogy would be baseball and softball. Both sports are similar and yet they a different I tell people this and it goes in one ear and out the other. Well, if they are going to have a relevant opinion about the sport then they should first of all know what powerlifting IS, and know something about it, or they should shut their mouth because their opinion doesn't matter!
