Raga Puriya Dhanashri | Rashid Khan (Album: Sangeet Sartaj)
Puriya Dhanashree is a rāga in Hindustani classical music. It belongs to the Poorvi Thaat and has been derived from the Janak raga.
Born on 1st July 1966, Ustad Rashid Khan is an Indian Classical musician in the tradition of Hindustani Music. His first concert was at the age of eleven. He joined the ITC Sangeet Research Academy (SRA) at the age of fourteen. He experiments a lot by fusing Hindustani music with lighter musical genres like a Sufi fusion. He was awarded with Padma Shri in 2006 for his contribution and dedication towards Indinan Music. Apart from this, he has won a number of awards and continues to perform in many musical festivals and concerts across the globe.

These raags are terrific Raag Shivranjani Raag Revati Raag Puriya Dhanashree Raag Sohini Raag Madhuvanti They are so, so, so, deep that they have capacity to drench the atmosphere in emotional flood, these are not the original forms, they evolved in mughal era, prior to this period it needed years to fix throat on melakarta ragas

More raags like these with a serious atmosphere are Raag Lalit and Raag Purya Kalyan. Absolutely beautiful raags.

The more songs I hear of Ustad Rashid Khan, the more I am convinced that he is one of the true all-time greats,now happily at the zenith o fhis powers. May he continue to spread enjoyment all around.Thanks for uploading.
