    I got invited by Fareed to attend his lesson's at NIU. Was pretty awesome, he gave me a hard time though when I accidentally said flamingo guitar and not flamenco haha... well I was already nervous at how much a noob I was.

    I play guitar and I have to agree. Guitar is great, but it has much less place as a relaxing instrument than the sitar.

    All micro-tonal embellishments and grace notes can be played on the guitar. Both Hindustani and Carnatic music can be played on the guitar. You can also change the guitar's tuning and make it sound like a sitar with the "sa pa sa pa" drone.

    The rhythmic picking patterns that alternate the drone strings with a melody string note derive from the instrument’s capabilities. There is a vocal analogue, but only distantly related.
