Raga Durga | Ustad Bismillah Khan ( Album: Bismillah Of Benaras) | Music Today
Durga is a raga in Hindustani Classical music. It is called Shuddha Saveri in the south. The raga is to be sung during late night.
Bismillah Khan, referred by honorific title 'Ustad' was an Indian Musician. He was the first one to elevate the status of the instrument and created immense importance. He was awarded with Bharat Ratna in 2001. He is popularly known for his vision and aim of spreading peace and love by the medium of music. He passed away on 21st August 2006 because of a Cardiac attack.

Khan Sahib was indeed a Naadha Yogi who transmitted the Eternal Silence [ Brahman ] through his beautiful Music. I have listened to him many times in Chennai during the December Music Festival to packed Audience and Hypnotize one and all through his Shehnai. What a blessing to get up at Brahma Mahurta to the dulcet notes of Shahnai played by Ustad Bismillah Khan Sahib. What further uplifts one's Spirits is that Ustad ji is playing Raag Durga in honour of Ma Durga on the steps of Kashi Vishwanath Temple Varanasi. What more could a Human Soul ask for as a direct contact with the Great Mother. 🙏🙏❤️❤️🙏🙏
Sadly missed is his humility and that beautiful soul which forever had encouragement for music and that heavenly smile.
This rendition of the Raag Durga by the all time Shenai legend has been an absolute musical jem in the Hindusthani classical music.I consider this rendition more valuable than even Kohinoor Diamond. When ever I felt any set back I listen to this particular Raag on Shenai only. I revear him crores time from bottom of my heart and repent and feel so sad realising the hard fact that this legend personalty will never come back from his heavenly abode.
