RespectedMam in this bandish , was there a use of shush Gandhar in the phrase ay e aye aye aye aye ? It sounded in aarohak form therefore the confusion.

Dr Saritha- could you clarify on the different gharanas of music-what are the differences and why the differences exist-how big are the differences. The new students tend to get confused because different gharanas do the auroh/avaroh/pakads and alaaps differently. Which gharana is the best.

I’m sorry if I’m wrong pl. let me know so that I may clear my point. You said in any raag we cannot use komal & shudh swar together in my knowledge if I’m right in raat jog we use both Gandhar together. Pl. clearify my point. Susheel chawla

Yes Susheel ji, there are some raag that are exception to this rule. Miya Malhar, Bahaar are also such exceptions. Both of these raag have komal and shuddh Nishaad

Please forgive my ignorance but Dha is absent from the aaroha. So, how can we sing ma pa dha in raag desh? Am I correct in assuming that while going up the scale, we have to respect the order of the aaroha?

Vivek Raghuram Vivekji you will find in all my lectures I have been emphasizing Aroh-Avroh only tells which notes are used in any particular Raga.they are just a skelton. The Raga is depicted by its CHALAN. In the case of Raga Dash in avroh specifically this phrase (swar sangati) is used-सां रें नि(कोमल ) ध प, ध म ग रे, ग नि(मन्द्र) सा. so we have to use it to show our CHALAN of Raga Dash otherwise the avroh -सां नि(कोमल ) ध प म ग रे सा doesn't make the Raga
