Ooh, I might have to end up doing this. I ordered their stick risers, so the leverage of a taller stick might be enough of a change for me. But I'll keep this in mind. Super informative

Nice! Those stick risers might end up working out pretty well for you. One thing I like about my Boxer Radio, is that it has longer sticks, which gives you a little more resolution in the inputs.

Just got this radio; its my first FPV/Drone radio. I did not like how tight the gimbals felt, even using the screw adjustment didn't offer sufficient range to lower it. Your video helped tremendously, mostly because I did not know that radiomaster shipped lighter springs.

I also wnated to know what's the difference between adjust the trottle stick tension (B T) and the vertical stick tension (C UP-DOWN)? It is in the picturre you showed in the beginning of the video, Thank you so much 🙏

If I remember right B T does adjust the feel of the throttle also, but it is very minor. When looking in the radio, that screw is at the top of what looks like a leaf spring that lies over the top of the "cam" (not sure the actual term) that is attached to the throttle. When screwed down that leaf spring applies tension to the cam which makes the throttle feel slightly tighter. Think of the "A" spring enabling/disabling self center, and the BT adjustment adjusting overall smoothness/tightness. Imagine disabling the spring with "A", the "B T" adjustment will resist the throttle wanting to flop down when you take your fingers off the stick. Both the C (Up-down) and D (Left-Right) adjustments are labeled as adjusting stick tension, but what I found is that the really adjust return to center strength, and when loosening them, the sticks don't want to return to center, and they end up feeling very sloppy. Not sure why they are labeled as such. They seem like you can get a little adjustment out of them, then you hit a point they don't do anything but make your sticks feel like they're broken!

Great clear instructions for this. But I noticed there are 2 springs for each gimbal. But there are only 2 replacement springs in the box? Are you just replacing one of the springs on each side? Thanks for the tips

Hi, thanks for watching! 4 springs come in the little bag in the box. I replaced 2 springs on the throttle/yaw side before I filmed the video. That way I learned the best way to do it and could show how from the start!

Thanks bro i adjusted my gimbals out the box but there was a massive deadzone i had to put in liftoff witch was screwing with my flying ill have to try swap those springs. My only question is… are you sure those weren’t just extras and there exactly same as stock? 😅

Yeah that's exactly how mine felt after adjusting, they should call it return to center strength! I like how you think, because I also was skeptical that they wouldn't be softer. When I removed the first spring I did a side by side comparison by pulling on the old and the new one. The ones included in the package were noticeably softer, and not trusting my self, I did a side by side comparison after I did the first gimbal. Not only was the side I swapped softer, it makes a much different sound when allowing to center on it own. Also, Radiomaster includes a list of what is included on it's website, and it lists 4 x Low Tension Springs. Thanks for checking out this video!

Is there a way to put a spring in the throttle? Mine doesn't feel like there is a spring in the trottle, the gimbal just go up and down freely

  • @MilneFPV

Great question! The throttle already has a spring installed for self centering, but it is disabled. It's very easy to enable the spring by doing the following: Flip your radio over and take the rubber gripper off of the throttle side, and you'll see a hole marked L-R. (Labeled "A" in this image 0:15 ) In that hole is an Allen Head screw that enables/disables the throttle spring. Insert a 1.5 mm Allen Wrench/Driver and rotate counterclockwise (it has to be almost all the way out) to enable the spring. You'll also have to check the hole labled "C" in this image 0:15. This is the tension adjustment for the throttle spring and if it is unscrewed all the way, your throttle will still feel like it doesn't have a spring. So make sure "C" is screwed all the way in and then back it off to find the throttle tension you want.

I like a lot of tension in my springs and already have snapped three playing X-tris over 10hrs last week, seems the original set didnt last, im on my second set and looking for alternatives like braces rubber bands to replace the springs with, they seem too delicate.

Radiomaster told me they can send them for free but its going to cost $5 for shipping, at this rate I'm going to need new springs every week if I use this controller normally. Oh well, that's why it's $65.@@MilneFPV

Is it normal that the SA und SD buttons trigger fairly easy? I can just touch them and the light in the RC goes green so it is triggered. In reviews it doesnt seem like it doesn trigger that easy

  • @MilneFamilyLights

I just tested mine and they are very sensitive. There is a little tension on the buttons, but they only have to move about 1mm before they trigger the light.

@@MilneFamilyLights Thanks for your test :) yes noticed that too. I use pinch grip and rest my fingers on the 3 way buttons, that way i accidentaly press those SA/SC buttons sometimes slightly and see the green light. And as soon as the light is on, the button in betaflight counts as triggered. Thats a little concerning imo for things like arming.

@@MilneFamilyLights if you just touch the button on the outer edge where the button sticks out the most, you just need to barely touch them on my radio to trigger it.
