I dunno if you're British, or if you are at the least of british descent, you probably are actually, but imo it's cause we don't put trash like Madonna and Ariana (delusions of) Grande on a pedestal. We allow real musicians who know their craft and artists to make music, not just cutesy little kids like Taylor Swift, who tbh i couldn't hum one of her songs. The USA seems to be a lot more impressed by all this vocal acrobatics nonsense of using 15 syllables for one word, as if it makes it super emotional and deep when in reality it's just a way of papering over how weak the song and it's cliched lyrics are. And that's why Britain always has and always will produce the best bands. Because they allow musicians to make music. That's also why Stanley Kubrick decided after Spartacus to make every film he made afterwards in Britain, where he believed they simply let him get on with his art without a constant stream of money men putting in their suggestions and other tech ppl working on his films trying to stamp too much of themselves in his films. He said he'd filmed a shot in Spartacus he was really happy with, only for the cinematographer to totally butcher it in the final cut. This was the last straw and he never made another movie in America cause he believed every American working on a movie brought too much ego with them and instead of simply following the vision of the director he'd waste too much time explaining himself or arguing with ppl. He said in England I want it to look like this and the staff just carried out his requests without question and always the way he asked. That's why ALL his best movies were made in Britain. It is basically because here we have a lot more respect for real artists, not just 'acts' who mostly can't even perform live.

Colbert became a very booing and unfunny tool when he took over the LS from Letterman (who was also slowly becoming unfunny and boring). Essentially a "dead"show which wouldn't be on air except there is nothing out there to replace it with.
