Lyrics: I will shake myself into your pocket Invisible Do what you want Do what you want I will sink and I will disappear I will slip into the groove And cut me off And cut me off There's an empty space inside my heart Where the weeds take root So now I set you free I set you free There's an empty space inside my heart Where the weeds take root So now I'll set you free I'll set you free Slowly we unfurl As lotus flowers 'Cause all I want is the moon upon a stick Just to see what if Just to see what is I can't kick the habit "Just to feel your fast ballooning head" Listen to your heart We will shrink and then be quiet as mice And while the cat is away Do what we want Do what we want There's an empty space inside my heart Where the weeds take root So now I set you free I set you free 'Cause all I want is the moon upon a stick Just to see what if Just to see what is The bird that's flown into my room Slowly we unfurl As lotus flowers 'Cause all I want is the earth upon a stick I dance around the pit, the darkness is beneath I can't kick your habit "Just to feed your fast ballooning head" Listen to your heart

I like the lines "Just to feed your fast ballooning head" and "All I want is a moon upon a stick" because they talk about ambition in a way that highlights how ambition can become perverse and perhaps egotistical (wanting everything, big headedness). It's a very similar sentiment to Nude. "Don't get any big ideas" "You'll go to Hell for what your dirty mind is thinking" In this case wishing he had the moon on a stick reads to me like a statement of what he wishes this relationship could be like. But really I'm not sure what the other lyrics are trying to say.

This is what letting the music move you looks like. Thom’s musical and lyrical genius is unparalleled among his peers
Thom Yorke is a great dancer. This was choreographed. By the choreographer in residence of the Royal Ballet. It's clever, it uses Yorke's natural dancing style, his body and his abilities very well and works with the music perfectly. I don't like most pop music choreography...ranks of people doing the same moves, a barely dressed girlie singer standing at the front doing the same. They all look identical after a while. This is grand.
@Caffeine_Addict_2020
2 ай бұрын
Alright I had to look this up because I couldn't believe it - this still seems misleading. It was "choreographed" in a way that meant, the choreographer was like "hey Thom do this" and he'd do his best to do it with no rehearsal. This quote from an MTV article says it wasn't improvised, but then makes it sound like it was pretty improvised "Much like the viral TikTok dance crazes that make stars out of scrollers today, the “Lotus Flower” moves might’ve looked off the cuff, but they were carefully chosen. His seemingly improvised gestures - gripping the top of his bowler hat, shaking as though he were possessed - were actually crafted by the Resident Choreographer of the Royal Ballet. The clip was the result of a collaboration between Yorke and Wayne McGregor, one of the most celebrated choreographers in England, as well as director Garth Jennings. McGregor helped Yorke shoot the video all in one day. There was no rehearsal process. Instead, the artists bounced ideas back and forth and filmed the movement phrases immediately, recording about 30 seconds of the video at a time."

It feels like yesterday that this song came out. It's hard to believe it's already been 12 years. Honestly, the day TKOL dropped was so exciting. I think most fans gave that album a hard time, but it's grown on me so much and I consider it some of their best and most interesting work now. Listen to the live version The King of Limbs From the Basement sessions to hear these songs at their absolute best.

@@billie6814 Yes I understand your point. It's just that the most amazing dancers to watch are those who have trained to learn the techniques but are not bound by them completely and can still put their own flare into it. Like musicians, they learn the technical aspect and that gives them the freedom to let rip. As many great people have said 'true freedom comes from discipline'. I love watching him anyway. He's just got no ego or fucks to give about others opinions, he's lost in it...and this really translates. Beautiful: )

The song is about a man who is looking for inner peace and emotional freedom. He uses the image of the lotus flower to talk about how he wants to overcome his problems and feel free. In the song, the man says there's a hole in his heart where love and pain have gone. That means he feels sad and lonely, but he wants to find a way to feel better. The man also says he imagines everything he could be. That means he's thinking about the things he could do and the people he could meet to find happiness and freedom. Overall, the song is about how it's important to seek inner peace and happiness, even if it's hard sometimes. The lyrics are very poetic and abstract, but I think the main idea is easy to understand: we all want to be happy and free. -Chat GPT
