Thom Yorke has helped me a lot with my insecurities. I always felt imperfect and too moody/uninteresting to ever be loved by another person but seeing Yorke embracing his imperfections and expressing sadness unapologetically made me realize that you can be both and still be a worthwhile human being. I owe a lot to this guy.

I wish i could do that. I was raised in the MOST macho house hold and i was the youngest boy of the family who had long hair, liked music, drew, and wrote poems. But even getting close to 30 i still feel weird sharing my stuff with anyone. I dont understand how someone could sing in front of people something that they wrote. I feel weird just playing something i wrote on an instrument. Big respect to even rip-off asshole lead singers. It takes guts to put yourself out there for the world to see. Or even a loved one.

I was about 23 years old when high n dry released. Now I'm 50 and I still love this song as much as I love Radiohead. I was in the midst of a break up with my first love when I first heard this song. I stayed up all night listening to high n dry with tears in my eyes, not knowing how to cope with this loss. As I got older, I loved this song even more, because as I matured, everything took on different meanings. Now, at 50, I love this song for what it did for me and how it will define moments of my life going forward.

Having turned 28 on 12/17 a few days ago and have heard the song throughout my life especially during the late 90s. As a young kid listening to bands like the Doors, Jimi Hendrix, and Pink Floyd in the backseat of Dad's Lincoln town car We would visit my grandpa in Redford Michigan every summer I'd stay and spend time over there. (I loved not wearing a seatbelt, Dad would fly down I96 back towards the Ambassador bridge from Wayne county and I'd be laughing and smiling all the way as we ripped at speeds of 150mph with the music cranked "Welcome to the Machine" batting out from the vehicle. In Leamington, We would go to the beach and frequent our swimming spot daily. And bands like Vertical Horizon and Nirvana, Radio Head Oasis would always be playing on the radio. There's a certain nostalgia that comes to mind from that period in my life even so later in my senior years in high school after meeting my high school sweetheart, now separated kids mother. Losing a dear best friend from a terrible canoe accident. We eventually grew apart once our friend passed and thus the trials and subtle beauty in moments we shared could and would make a great movie on young teenage angst and love and loss and the power of overcoming difficult hardships to come full circle after years of silence. Great song and great music move spirit to other dimensions and places beyond the practical world we live in. Thanks and Cheers.

Oh how I Love this Song. I remember listening to this Masterpiece and I still get that Nostalgic feeling. I do get a little sad but it still resonates within my Soul. I'm so happy that these songs are still here so I can listen to them whenever I want to. The feelings i get from listening to this Masterpiece are a little melancholy. I listen and reflect on so many things. That's why I love songs like these because they make you think. Radiohead is and will always be a beautiful band.❤❤

It's difficult to find proper words to describe the magic of this song. I heard it in a passing back in early 2000s. Yes, only 2000s, because I grew up in Eastern Europe, didn't have internet, you could find maybe one or two copies of The Bends in your city, which cost 10% of mom's monthly salary. Good music wasn't something you could easily have. Pirated CDs everywhere, but they didn't even pirate Radiohead. And then you hear this masterpiece. It's so special, it's so beautiful. Still is, after all this time :)

I was in my early 20s when this song came out. Years before I went to a concert where REM were performing, the Radiohead was the opening band and I was blown away. At that time I was an university student with many dreams in the drawer, along with some CDs and those stupid and useless things that we usually put in them. I was studying Medicine hoping to replenish that bag full of expectations that my parents (all doctors in the family) had but I was often restless and distracted. I remember the scent of the women I was with, that of the weed I used sometimes to smoke, the noise of street vendors and the news talking about the many deaths because of the MAFIA. The 90s were really hard for us Sicilians and still are. Today I am 47 years old, I lived in different countries in Europe and not only, I am not a doctor (I decided to quit 😊) and today I work as a manager in the IT world. I am since years with a woman who looks like a gift from heaven and in a few days I will be a father of a boy whose name will be that of my father to whom I owe, despite the disappointments given, everything and who never left me alone in my path . I hope I can teach my son how important music is in our life, because it not only fills the soul but it has that magical power to make you travel back and relive everything with open eyes. Radiohead is and always will be my favorite band and when I listen to a song like this I turn twenty and suddenly a smile mix of sweetness, sadness and joy colors my face (sorry for my English :D )

found this song at one of the darkest points of my life, completely lost, alone and considering ending life but 3 years later I hear this song and am so happy to be in a better place, used to bring me to tears but now makes me happy at how life can change for the better - for anyone else going through the same, keep pushing - it'll work out, just takes time

I'm at that point now where you were 3 years ago all because of a woman that I'm deeply and dearly in love with that is 5,000 miles away from me in the little country of Romania. She knows exactly how much that I'm in love with her and I know the love she has for me. The love that every human being dreams of. Her circumstances of her life continues to draw her away from me just as my very own circumstances draw me away from her. She's a supermodel to 300,000 men all around this world who have so much to offer her then I do financially. I have this deep gut feeling that she will eventually leave me high and dry one day. My gut feelings always become reality and so afraid this gut feeling I've been having about her will become true too one day too and I'm sinking into the deepest darkness depression of my life. I’m a very depressive kind of person but i lived on their songs! ❤. People said not to listen to their song ,they don’t know they make feel alive.

Totally love the acoustic guitar rhythm on that one. And of course the nostalgia of driving around listening to the CD back in the day -- that too.

I was 16 and snowboarding in the B.C interior for the first time. An angry young man without the skills to understand the world... finally alone in the moment and too busy feeling to dwell on his well worn repertoire of caustic thoughs. This music in his ears all the while, at least untill the cassette ends and heads for what seems like an infinity of rewinds and replays. Just as good then as it is to my 43 year old ears now. This song really helps me during sad times, but also makes my sadness much bigger, but also calms me down. Absolutely my top favourite Radiohead song, nobody can change my mind 😔👏

There's a very endearing quality to his voice and verbal emotional expression. You can feel his feelings and in some way most of them represent our own. It was so much fun to be young right when they were on the radio. I remember turning my radio on and this was playing and well, everything felt like it was going to be alright.

Summer of 95, this song and Fake Plastic Trees were played while I was browsing records in A&B Sound on Calgary's 8th Avenue mall. It was my first time hearing Radiohead and I remember the moment as if it happened yesterday.

Listening to Radiohead is like opening up your refrigerator in the morning looking at empty milk carton when you already have a bowl of cereal ready. You are still drowzy from just getting out of bed. Kind of feeling.

@@jackknife5062 I suffer from depression and I have for a very long 13 years now, and I can SWEAR to you, there are plenty of suicides which are not caused because of those reasons, it would be nice if you didn't talk about something like that if you haven't been close to such experience in any way.

10 yrs ago I learned to sing and play this song on guitar. Once I had learned it, my wife at the time left me and divorced me. For years I couldn’t listen to this song again without feeling sick. At the time, she was “the best thing I’d ever had”.

I remember being 13 getting my heart broken for the first time. Crying my eyes out to this song on repeat literally sobbing. Now the years that have followed I listen to this song with a smile and happiness in my soul. This is one of my all time favorite songs. Funny how music does that.

i am deep diving today in music .. going into places that have been locked away in my heart for years, decades some of them. So much power. We are all water and energy - quickest way to touch the most sensitive places in our soul is with music

it was a stroke of genius to begin the song with the drums. the rest of the song just unfolds itself in a beautiful cornucopia of delicately placed notes and lyrics. God Bless Thom and Co.

I feel like listening to this song while driving along the sunset. Just driving in silence no interruption.
