Lol, this clip has blown up in a way I didn't expect so I might as well clear things up with a pinned comment: 1. Yes, Creep was Radiohead's first hit single, and it is super popular, but they pretty quickly got tired of being solely associated with it and it grated on Thom in particular. They went a long time without playing it live and only have started to bust it out more often in recent years. 2. Artists have a right to be tired of certain songs and albums. That's part of making art. 3. If you've watched any Radiohead interviews from the past several years, you'll see they're all clearly friends on good terms with each other and this is just Thom and the others playfully trolling Jonny by queuing up a song that wasn't originally on their set list.

jonny was not surprised by the band playing creep, the title of this video is extremely misleading. its not possible for the band members to be suprised on stage because they have written setlists, and each song requires specific instruments/tunings/pedals. its imperative that they all know what song they're playing before they start, they couldnt play anything together otherwise. jonny would have known what song they were playing simply by seeing what instruments ed and thom were using at that moment, as its the only song with that combination of instruments. you can even hear ed's tremolo as thom is speaking, which is the only song he uses that sound on

The iconic guitar part in creep came about by accident. Jonny never liked the song and had no part really worked out. His anger at having to play a song he didn’t like can be heard in that part. The producer grabbed it on tape. The rest as they say. Is History.

Radiohead isn’t any other band imo. They’ve proved themselves to be more than that. Imagine having such a consistently solid discography, but the average person only knows you or heard of your band for that one song. Creep is fun to listen to, but it’s barely scratching the surface of Radiohead’s creative genius.

i find it funny when ppl say they hate creep because members of the band hated playing it or because it’s popular. you aren’t in the band and hating something because it’s popular doesn’t make you cool
