    RadioShack actually exists in some rural towns as their only technology store. Mostly in towns that most tech stores think aren’t profitable. It’s really interesting because they sell mostly microwaves, fridges, the occasional early 2000’s pc, and other externally random tech.

    People saying the account was hacked don't realize that this is how corporations are on social media anymore. I don't think if you're following any big corporation on Twitter that you could go a day without seeing at least one witty, personable, or "relatable" tweet from them. Unless it's a company like Nintendo, where they just don't care about doing that and simply post normal advertising and occasional polls (which ironically makes them stand out more than corporations that do try to be personable, lmao).

    Mortar is a 4 Elixir Building unlocked from Builder’s Workshop. Mortar is a card which fairly easy to play with. It combines well with mini tanks (Ice Golem, Knight) and tank killers (Mini PEKKA, Hunter) because of its unique blind spot mechanic. However, using the Mortar is not everyone’s cup of tea. It’s got an insanely high skill cap. That means you’ll take a lot of time to understand how to use this card. But let me tell you, it’s totally worth it. How high is the skill cap, you ask? Hmm. Go to Top Royales, and keep scrolling till you see a Mortar deck.

    I remember as a teenager, I always wanted to work at RadioShack and Circuit City. I applied at both places when I became of age. This was before online applications became really big, so you could technically apply online and in person. So, my dad the boomer that he is told me to go in both places and ask the hiring manager if they ever got my application. Being an awkward 16 year old, I did so. The manager at Radioshack was a condescending jerk to me and told me that they weren't hiring in a douchey way for no reason. Then I got my dad to bring me to Circuit City; did the same thing, talked to the hiring manger. Again, douchebag experience. The manager, essentially ignored me when I asked if he ever got my application. But now today, I'm so glad seeing these two companies go broke. Yeah, sure that's a fucked up thing to say in a selfish way. Because lot of innocent people lost their job. But there's another side of me, glad that those two guys lost their jobs :).

    I worked at Circuit City for a few months selling desktop computers. I didn't sell all the bells and whistles (like insurance and such) and eventually my manager called me into his office. The conversation started with him asking me "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" I was 18 at the time and naturally I said "Not here." I fully expected to be let go after that so I left about 2 weeks later. Generally speaking, the management was pretty douchy and I had zero desire to stick around. I had a friend who still worked there and she told me that about a month after I left, all of management was fired. Then Circuit City went bankrupt shortly after. So even if I wanted to still work there, my response of "Not here" was true regardless.

  • @Mapleaple

    @Mapleaple

    2 жыл бұрын

    Apparently and this is true. They made the few people they had there into "managers" so salaries were paid instead of hourly. They actually saved more money since the person working there worked long hours. They kepted their employees below a certain number to avoid some fees and taxes. So them being jerks is because the managers are not in fact real managers, just power tripping people with titles they never deserved.

    I used to be one of Radioshack's top earners in New York, no joke. As employees we had the ability to see profit margins from our terminals and I can tell you the main reasons why they went under: - Just like circuit city, they bought TVs, laptops, and gaming hardware in the hopes that they'd be able to sell accessories for them. As a result, they often bought more laptops and TVs than they could sell and often sold them at a loss. Nobody would go to radioshack to buy TVs or laptops because they thought best buy would have the better price when often times you could get a laptop on clearance at radioshack for cheaper. And nobody would ever buy cables with their TV purchases - they got into online sales far too late. We often had more stock online than we did in stores however it was always just obscure stuff like batteries or name brand landline phones. - Cellphone sales were a HUGE source of profit for radioshack when smartphones hit the market. The blackberry profits in particular were INSANE because the store made profit on the internet plans too. That said, all cell carriers ended up slashing smartphone profit margins after everyone already had one. That's because carriers had to lower their prices to compete. By this point, radioshack had started to heavily push cellphone sales and didn't wake up when they became less profitable - Radioshack would do a lot of dumb shit in upper management. My old boss was grandfathered in on an old salary from like the 80s that got him about 50k a year after bonuses which isn't that great considering he worked like 60 hours a week. By the 2010s, he desperately needed medical leave and Radioshack purposefully hired shady people and wouldn't let my boss fire them. He rehired me to keep an eye on them. When he was gone on medical leave, I noticed thousands of dollars missing in inventory and called corporate. They told me they didn't have a loss and prevention manager and that they wouldn't do anything until they hired a new guy. By the time they investigated (months later), it ended in multiple arrests and they blamed my manager for it even though he was on medical leave. They essentially forced him into retirement, something he didn't want to do because he loved his job. They also had me undergo assistant management training and when the district manager got transfered, promoted no one who went through the training, hired outside assistant management, and then had me train them...while I got paid less. And they wonder what went wrong. Also on the topic of stores still in existence: those are all franchises. All the corporate stores were the ones that shut down. Franchises pretty much got to do whatever the fuck they wanted. Corporate stores were strict with shitty management.

    The best stereo system I ever had was a Realistic from Radio Shack that my brother bought in 1978 and got handed down to me. 200W, 2 auxiliary inputs to go with the phonograph and cassette inputs plus a 1/4" input jack, 8 stereo speaker outputs (4 L, 4 R) and 2 headphone jacks. I used it as a practice bass amp for a long time plugged straight into the auxiliary jack. Used it as my home entertainment system until it finally petered out around 2015. An incredible piece of electronic equipment that stomped ass with no problems for almost 40 years. Businesses learned, make high quality equipment that lasts and doesn't need service and you'll end up like Radio Shack eventually...out of business.

    I had a radio shack in my town Henderson in North Carolina, I remember going there once in a while as a kid. I have this hatred for them because I had this game for my wii called Godzilla Unleash, absolutely phenomenal game to me when I was young and honestly I would still play it for the nostalgia even now. Anyways back to the reason for my hatred for them, my Godzilla game got a bit scratched and such i went to RadioShack since one employee told me that they had something that could fix scratched game discs, too bad my memory sucks and I don't remember but I do remember asking the employee to please fix my Godzilla unleashed game and they did lol. At least I thought so, once I got home I go to my wii and take out my skylanders disc and put in Godzilla unleashed ONLY TO FIND OUT IT HAS GOTTEN EVEN WORSE AND WAS NOW UNPLAYABLE. I HATED IT SO MUCH MAN. I have hated them ever since.

    I doubt you'll see this, I worked at a Radioshack, brick and mortar, a little over a year ago. I was a phone repair tech and I worked there for three years. A great first job honestly. People would come from different states just to come to a Radioshack, it's not what it used to be but they are definitely still alive. Mainly as separate owner rather than in the mall corporate stores though.

    That was a live full circle. In the beginning we were talking about the shack goin off the rails, then Charles gets caught in the rabbit hole of north norm, to then elegantly return back to the shack coming to their senses all in the space of 9 min 🤣

    There's a radio shack that never closed and is still open near where my parents live. Pretty sure it's a privately owned franchise store. Basically a hobby shop at this point, but going in there is a huge wave of nostalgia.

    Corporate social media being run by kids to make it more "relatable" has always been cringe and always will be. Anyone that falls for this trashy shit should never speak again.

    The only time I'm okay with too old of people trying to use social media to relate to younger folks is when it's pro-worker government organizations or charities. Hey kids, isn't Worker's rights so rad. It can still be cringy, but at least it's made in good faith and not trying to sell some Crypto crap.

    Most of Jimmy Cars humor is stolen from early 90s-2000s internet joke sites. He's honestly a bigger hack than Amy Schumer since he got his jokes from literal online catalogues not even from actual comics.

    I used to work for them last year. They basically shifted from retail and online store to this so they can make money without investing any capital. The stores are independently owned but keep the RS trademark. Oh and also, this isn't a hacked account, I was there when this started to happen.
