Radio reset code in 5 minutes for a 2001+ Honda CRV CR-V Accord Civic Pilot Element Odyssey Insight
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
This trick should work for 2001 and newer Honda's that have the factory radio. Note: sometimes you can find the code sticker in the glovebox. Here are the steps in order (scroll down for different steps if you have a Honda Accord from 2003-2007 with the navigation system, it is slightly different) to get the code using the radio's display:
1-You must turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
2-Then you turn ON the radio and make sure the display is showing the word "COdE". If you do not see this message, remove the backup fuse for 60 seconds or longer, and then go back to the first step.
3-Turn OFF the radio.
4-Press and hold the number 1 and number 6 radio preset buttons, and then turn ON the radio.
5-The display will toggle between two different screens: there is a U with the first 4 digits of the serial number (U4637 just as an example,) and L with the last 4 digits of the serial number (L9873 just as an example.) Don't pay any attention to the U and L and write down all the 8 digits.
7- Visit: (Make sure you cut and paste that address exactly or you might go to a site that charges money. Make sure to include the https, not just http in the address) to get your unlock code from the Honda website. Some people have mentioned they had to pay for the unlock code, but I got mine free when I did it. Maybe they've changed their website. You might be able to visit your Honda dealer with the code and VIN and get it free from your local dealer too if you have trouble with the website.
FOR HONDA ACCORD FROM 2003-2007 WITH THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM :
1-First you must turn the ignition switch to ACC (I) position.
2- Turn on the radio, and be certain you can see the word COdE in the upper display. If you do not see this message displayed, then pull the backup fuse for at least 60 seconds and then go back to the first step.
3-Turn off the audio unit.
You then will press&hold the top halves of the SEEK/SKIP and CH/DISC bars, and then you must press and release the PWR/VOL knob. The display will toggle then between two different screens.
The first screen displays a U and the first four digits of the serial number (just for example, U5428).
The second screen displays an L and the last four digits of the serial number (just for example, L2358). You should ignore the U and L, and then write down all eight remaining digits of the code.
Please let me know if this works for you and what car it worked on. Thanks!

Thank you so much. We bought a used 2002 CRV and had no idea this was even a thing. We thought we were going to have to replace the entire stereo. Worked like a charm.
After watching so many different videos how to get my radio to work, yours was the best!!! None of them explained correctly, this was so helpful, every step as the way you explained made it easy to follow and keep up Thank you so much! I was able to get it working in less than 10 min
8 years later and ur still helping people with this problem thank you so much worked for me
Thank you so much for making this video! I have a 2004 CRV and just got a new battery and had no idea about the code I needed for the radio, but it's now fixed thanks to this video and the awesome person who made it!
This is amazing. Thank you so much for making this video. I'm so disgusted with the dealer for not telling everyone this. I don't know how you figured it out but thank you thank you for doing so. I have a 2002 Accord. Now I wonder why the CD player doesn't work.
Music truly relax me . I have been without radio for a week and it was really hard. I am that person that will turn on the radio and sing along. My hubby changed the oil and unplugged the battery. The radio asking for a code. I look on the owner’s manual and found nothing. Then I search and search and found this video it was pretty sample and it work. My radio work again thank you
Everytime my battery has died I've used this video exactly. It's clear, concise, and works. Thank you.
Oh! What a life savor. My kids will be so happy to have their dvd playing again. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much!!! You saved me from a long, agonizing road trip in silence. I appreciate it!
Just had to get my third fix in less than half a year on my 08 crv. When i picked it up it wasn’t letting me use the aux cord and then it popped up asking for a code. Thought i was going to need to pay more money to get it reset. Then i found this video. You’re life savior man, helpin out nearly a decade later, thanks!!
My radio is back! Gone are the days of straining to hear my audiobooks playing pitifully off my phone. My gratitude to you!
Thank you! I love people that are willing to share what they know and make a video to help others. Really appreciate it!!
Hey, thanks for making this video. I had it done in 15min. A good note to add is if you put your code in wrong or are messing with it before watching this video. You will need to disconnect your battery to reset the radio before entering a new code in. Worked for my 06 CR-v Thanks again great video very helpful.
Been without my radio for over 2 months now. Did this and it worked. You are truly a genius Thank You very much!!!!
Just replaced the battery in my 2005 CRV and couldn't figure out why I couldn't reset the clock and the radio wouldn't work until watching your video. Worked like a charm. Thank you!!
Very honest person you are!! Hope helped a lot of ppl
You're a hero! Thanks for putting the effort into creating this video AND providing the serial # retrieval link. You're right. We just had this problem after having a mechanic work on our otherwise functional CRV (used for hauling) and the local Honda dealership wanted $140!!! to reset the radio! They claimed the ONLY way to do it is to remove the radio, get the unit's serial # (there's "no other way" according to Honda), provide our VIN, and then have THEM do the work. If I had four hands instead of two I'd give you eight thumbs up!
Thank you for your video! It helped me reset the radio 📻 on my 2004 Honda CR-V without paying an expensive visit to the dealer after a battery swap 😁😁
Again, you have saved another Honda owner. I owned several Honda's in the past and always forget about this stupid radio code. I just purchased a 2004 CR-V for my daughter. Had to tighten the battery cable and it disconnected for a quick second. No code on the side of the glove box door or anywhere else. Watched your video and had the code. Thanks a ton sir!
Oh my, you're a freaking GOD! I've been driving around for like 6 months without being able to listen to my radio. Thanks to this video it's up and running.

Worked like a charm for me. Thanks for taking time out to make this video. Mine was a 07 Civic and the Website found two codes that could match and the first one itself worked in unlocking the radio.

This worked perfect for my 2008 Honda CRV thank you so much, as a teenager I don’t have the money to pay a dealership for this thank you!

Awesome, worked great on my 2005 Honda Pilot and saved me an hour drive to the dealer.
Thank you! The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Everything worked just as you said. My radio and even more important my clock both work. I bookmarked the Honda web site you guided me to. Now I can also access the manual. Might need this as my glove box will not open. Have tried some suggested fixes, but not successful. Again, Thank You so much!
Mr. Zawbone, you are great. I lost my radio reception after having a new starter for my 2004 Honda Odyssey. I carefully follow your easy steps and it works. It takes only 10 minutes. I do not like going to the dealer or call them. You are the best and thank you for the web address. Subscribed. Sep.16, 2019.
thank you for telling me about the code in glove box
Thank you so much for making this helpful video! You saved me the hassle of calling the dealership. Much gratitude to you sir!

Usually you can find the serial number of the radio printed on a small sticker, that is placed on the outside left edge of the glovebox. Another words, grab a flashlight, open the glovebox, then look around the left edge of the glovebox for a small sticker, Honda usually always puts the radio serial number there.
Wow! I just left Honda dealership and was told they didn't have codes for the older vehicles (2002) and that I would have to pay to have the radio pulled out and the code would be there. I am grateful for this info. Hope it works for me.
Thank you 🙏🏾 Just used this for my Honda Pilot 2009 it works step 1)vin number 2) code from radio 3)email and zip code

The code was on the side of the glove compartment like you said, but it was so good to know I had a way of getting it without having to pay the dealer. Thank you!
I just wanna say thanks so much your video helped me and saved me so much money! You hit the nail on the head when you said “ check the glove box or manual maybe the previous owner or someone wrote it down!” Someone sure did. You’re a genius

Thank you. You made a great video. I bought a used 2002 Honda CR-V, left the lights on and had the battery jumped. No more radio. You are a lifesaver and money saver.
This is amazing!!!!!!! 2022 and still works. Thank you so much! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 2002 crv I bought last year from a friend as a backup car, and the radio hasn’t worked in forever. Finally decided to look it up after needing to work on my Jeep and drive the backup again. You are the man!!

THANK YOU! For our 2013 CRV, all I needed were the first steps. Once I pushed 1, 6 and power, the radio came back on.
Thank you for this amazing advice I was able to unlock my code today after changing my battery yesterday. The dealer wanted to charge me almost $200 to reset this code and I was able to do it for free. A million thank yous great advice

You're lucky. I didn't have anything. I'm so glad I came to youtube for help. Thank you, Zawbone!!!
Thank you so much, I can finally listen to the radio on my way to school again!
Thanks, Zawbone! Went to a Honda dealer in Southern CA today, and was told that they needed to pull the radio out to get the radio serial number. I found this pretty sketchy, and decided to look on the internet for some info. Pretty deceitful that a dealer would claim they have to yank the radio out and charge the customer over $100, when all they would have done was press the 1+6+power combo for the serial number, and then enter the code from their dealer database, yet rip off the customer for over $100 for 30 seconds worth of work!
You saved me a trip to the dealership and $. If I could give you 50 likes I would!
FYI the website will not work with Canadian VIN's. Easy trick, goto Autotrader and find the vin for a US model that is the same as yours and use that VIN with your radio serial code. Voila it will give you the unlock code!

Make sure you go to this site once you have the serial number: radio-navicode.honda.com Watching this video will explain how you get the serial number. Armed with the VIN and Serial Number, you should get the unlock code. If it prompts you for a zip code and you don't know it. Just guess. Try 03835 or something else to see if you can trick it. You might also try calling a few of your local Honda dealers and asking them if they will give you the code free. Any reputable dealer will.

I just googled it to find an american VIN and then went to the american honda site and threw in a random american zip code, used my own radio serial number, used the american vin and it worked woohoo!
I have a Honda CR-V 2010 and this vid-clip helped out tremendously! I didn’t have to spend a dime to get this figured out the code - thank you!
Hey man, it works! I just did it for my 2001 Honda Civic. Thanks for this video guide. Now I can listen to the radio again.
stupid honda, who in they're right mind is going to steal a cheap ass radio, give a break honda..
I put in a new battery in my 2004 Honda Pilot and it worked, Thank you very much! I thought I needed a new audio system. I don't know why this has to be so elaborate.
It worked for getting me the serial number! Then, when the serial numbers came up I accidentally bumped the power button and it automatically reset it without having to put the code in at all. (The website was really easy to get the codes, I just didn't end up needing them) Thank you!
WOW. Thank U so much, it worked. your instructions was so clear and to the point. Today I had to get a new battery and it never crossed my mind that I would need a code. I got my 05 CRV 3 yrs. ago and this was the first time I had the battery disconnected. So glad that U put this here on the tube. Again I thank U sir.
Thank you so much! Mentioning the step to hold the 1 and 6 buttons down was so helpful. My 2002 CR-V did not come with a manual. This worked! 😀
I would like to thank you soooo very much.I have a 2010 Honda Accord and your video helped me get my radio back on in a matter of a couple of minutes.Very helpful and thanks again
You are the best... straight to the point and very useful information. I just followed the process and it worked! Thanks.

Thanks so much! Mom just got a 2004 CRV and the code card was missing. This got me the code in less than 5 min.
6-5-2 Did it !! So grateful to you after many attempts with codes +++. (You submitted on my birthday ...Wow !)
Thanks a lot man! It worked pretty good for me, and it was free. I would like to say that in my case, when I pressed “1+6+on”, it showed me the whole s/n, not in 2 parts but in 1. That made it easier. Then I went to the website just as you have it, then I looked for the tab “get code”, put the VIN number, my phone, zip code and email and that was all, it gave me 2 codes. The second worked just perfect. I appreciate your help!
Thank you so much. This procedure did not work at first on my Niece's 2002 Honda CRV, it came up Error. So I disconnected the battery again and waited five minutes. Hook the batter y up and tried this procedure again and it worked. LOL I love it. Thank you.
Thank you so much for making this video-I have a 2003 Honda CR-V and the battery died-I followed these instructions and it worked perfectly-I have a tremendous feeling of satisfaction doing this and having it work because I'm an idiot and things like this never work for me-thanks for your help
