Havent gotten to this part yet. But if you dont know already. Gel coat isnt anything special. You can buy epoxy dye on amazon thats quite high quality. All you do is mix the dye in with your fiberglass resin and bang. You have gel coat. Wet sand it then polish it and you have a mirror fin8sh with no cracking. I work on boats and jet skis.

I like how this is going, but today I only have time to see the first 'episode', up to 22 minutes (a typical Simpsons episode length 😁). Speaking of which, what do you think about breaking up the next instalment into smaller episodes? 1 hour 26 minutes is kind of detracting for someone who is new to your channel. Question, I’m going through your build series. I am going to be building an old checkerboard painted Bardahl, and a more modern era turbine Bud (both Nitro), so I’m not following along, but I watching intently to pick up things and really enjoying the series, and the dogs! Again, sorry about Jaxon!! Does one get plans, or have access to plans on line for download that can facilitate this kind of major repair with all kits you can buy?? FOr even as reference during the build?? Or is that proprietary to each kit builder??? I’m a former furniture maker (serious hobbyist) so wood and I are old friends. I’ve built much from plans. I know how valuable they can be. Advise here would be helpful. For instance, does ML give the plans when you buy a kit?? I plan on getting both from him if I can also get plans? Thanks man. Looking forward to the Mega Stroh driven by Jaxon Brown!!!! My 3rd build will be a gas boat, hull undecided. Thinking about a Griffon era Bud. Anyway, some direction here from you would be helpful and very much appreciated. Thanks. John

Nope, no plans come with the kit, but you shouldn't need them anyway. There used to be a website called Newton Marine that had plans for almost every full size boat, but the site has been down for over a year now so I think that resource is lost. Why not just go for it? You'll figure it out!

@@M5PerfHydros i understand totally. But may i suggest you try to fiberglass over a sheet of ply just 2 inches by 2 inches then use the finishing epoxy with a little bit of dye in the color that you want and see how it turns out? I think youll find that not only does it save weight but it is more "slippery" on the water. But its also more durable. Just a thought.

@@M5PerfHydros Thank you. I found the T-nuts. Another Q: Do you use the G-Flex for the spruce strips? At 1:20:33 it looks like you do. I can't find the part in on video where you explain where you use the thin West Systems and the thicker G-Flex. My System 3 T-88 glue is much like G-Flex and is a little thicker. I'm just concerned that the thicker glue does not penetrate like the West Systems does. Anything is better than CA I would think?

I use West Systems for laminating, and G-Flex for construction. So yes, all strips and hardware is assembled with G-Flex, and all laminated parts (floor reinforcement, sponson transom, laminated framing) and sealing is done with West Systems. An exception would be a part that is being laminated at the same time it's being installed (sponson runners/non trips), and I use G-Flex in this case. You'll see this in the next video

Negative Ghost Rider! I'm too anal... takes me far too long to build one and no one could afford to pay what that would be worth. I could lower my standards and knock them out in a jiffy, but no!
