I LOVE THE GODZILLA SPOT!!!! Doris Day (swoon)!!! Cape Fear....scary as heck!!! Have always wanted to see Blood Feast, but just never have. That Karloff spot was so awesome!!!! LOL, great Rambler spot (beep-beep). Stan Freberg, so classic (with a Paul Frees cameo). Another one hits the spot Fred.

Thanks, Cap. Doris Day was one of the few actresses who got better looking as she got older. She looked better at 45 than 25, and without plastic surgery (I hope). As for Blood Feast, here's what I commented to Terri Hooks: It was the first color gore movie and shows brains and tongues being ripped out. And it's cheaply made with bad writing and acting. My parents and I saw this at a drive in 1965 when I was 10. I remember my mother hanging her head out the window, vomiting. My dad said he'd give me $5 to let him drive us home. I said "No, Dad, I've got to see ALL of this!"

another super one fred! great radio spots from all those terrific years of my childhood. loved the bobby vee and everly brothers spots but all were really fun and brought back some real nice times. liked the k mart ad also but wasn't aware that they were in business in 1962, sad now there are only a handful left, around here anyway. thanks for always sharing these wonderful pieces of the 60s, always makes my day! rob

Your collection of old TV and radio ad recordings must even impress the National Archives! I don't recall most of these ads since radio ads tended to go in one ear and out my other. TV ads, on the other hand, were usually more memorable since they were visual and not just audio. The Edsel gets bashed a lot. However, from what I read, it was not much different than other cars of the period. Its main failing was being poorly assembled that lead to it problems. I loved Doris Day. The Rambler "Beep-Beep" parody ad/song was hilarious! And "Why should I advertise on radio?" was the perfect ending. Great stuff!

22:15 Comparing the original "Cape Fear" to the '90s remake was like comparing leather to brightly-colored cellophane. The original had less violence and profanity, but scared you more with its implications than all the over-acting in the remake could.

+FredFlix, +Liz Arnold It truly was. Of course, AM sounded somewhat better then. No, that's not 'rose colored glasses', it's an actual, technical FACT. It was never the equal of FM, that's true, but it sounded a fair bit better back then than it does today, especially if you had a decent quality AM receiver. There are three contributors to the decline - a change in FCC regulations regarding channel 'bandwidth', plus a decline in the quality of AM receivers. Because of those two factors, a third factor has arisen - most AM stations don't bother transmitting a quality signal any more. It costs more to do so, for starters - why bother, since most modern receivers won't reproduce the sound very well anyway,, and most AM programming is just talk now. To put it bluntly, AM today sounds like sh*t, and it isn't going to get any better. Radio in general sucks today, come to think of it. Even FM. Oh there's better quality on FM, but the 'music' that pours out of the speaker is just talentless noise, played over and over again, in between 15-minute commercial breaks of the same ads played over and over again. Pffft, give me the 'old days' any day.

The Corvair could have been a great car, if it weren't for that gawd-awful swing-axle rear suspension. Apparently they couldn't fit a standard live axle because of the rear-mounted engine. Live and learn, I guess.

Not sure what program you are using to record audio, Fred, but even the most basic usually have a feature called normalization, which allows you to run all audio samples up to max volume level without going over. I had to turn the speakers way up on this, and when my Eudora got new mail, the announcement damn near shot me across the room.

Edsel comparing itself to Ford is stupid, because EDSEL was MADE by FORD. This is as silly as Buick competing with Cadillac, (both GM brands) Oh wait.. That happened too.🤦‍♂️Also, Sinatra would go from Ford to Chrysler. He was a personal friend of Lee Iacocca who ALSO went from Ford to Chrysler.
