Radial Air Bearings mounted on a stator made of 80/20 are used to support a 360lb open core rotor
Ғылым және технология
Radial Air Bearings are used to support a 360lb open core rotor that could be used for computed tomography or open core propulsors or any other application requiring rotary motion. In this example 80/20 structural aluminum profiles are used to make an inexpensive, light weight stator structure.

Every now again, I forget how fascinated I get by air bearings! Thanks for kick up the bum!
Another great air bearing demo!
I found intrest in these when i got into Comouted tomography. The Phillips CT scanner i currently run works on an air bearing. I think it can make a full rotation in .3 seconds.
Exciting! When do I start?
Nice! This is awesome! What are the rpm limits of this setup?

Limits?..... where this is going, there are no limits!!... Cheers. :)
Hi Drew, I remember chatting to you a few years ago on the phone, You guys make brilliant highest quality technology, I am always fascinated with this product. I am not sure if you are aware of us here in the USA, We provide repairable air casters that are used worldwide as they fit in place of OEM equipment. Simple solution, Easy to fit common sense air casters :)
I love it.

People really want to see these air bearings in cnc industry..in the machine tools..... Supporting heavy depth of cuts... Replacing conventional contact bearings and expensive hydrostatic bearings.....can they do it drew? With current technology that you have?

This reply is bit late. Yes, ultra precision diamond turning machines are major customer group for us. Hydrostatic bearings are a significant heat source and heat is a first order error source in precision machines. This is especially true of large vertical turning machines making large bearings and gears, like for wind turbines. Air bearings would be perfect for improving the machining and metrology of these large parts.
I'm so confused... how does a air bearing even woro???? It doesn't use electricity
