    One thing that I found striking about Regloss was their Vtuber avatar design. All 5 of them look like they jumped right out of a shoujo manga (eg. Vampire knight). Just compare to Holox which has a demon lord, an assassin orca and a samurai. The Regloss designs are way more grounded in comparison. I don't know what it means, but I think it might be worth pointing out.

    Hololive specializes in non-standard Idols. Sure it has a bunch of members that conform to the "ideal idol" image, but it also has a lot of members that are very much NOT "ideal idols". In this sense, I can't imagine why someone like JFT wouldn't fit in, if anything she's a great example of Hololive's ideals, that anyone can be an idol. Even if for a short while, even the legendary dragon was an idol.

But thinking more critically about it now, even they have some traits and quirks that are kinda un-idolish in terms of traditional JP idols (Sora being impossible to scare, Suisei being a shonencon, and AZKi being kinda yandere at times, etc), of course all of this not including the fact of them being virtual idols.

DEV_IS and ReGloss are cooking something different, so I hope Raden not only keeps in mind the fact that hololive itself decided she fits "hololive's image" but she's going to be apart of something new in hololive's history. I have a theory. Hololive has become known for immersion and lore which sets the theme and the way the fans interact with the idols. Oftentimes, these personalities come in their demi-human forms. It's definitely an idol fantasy. However, ReGLOSS only has people. While it is different from the usual Hololive image, it can give the talents more freedom especially with talking about their personal experiences and interests. I saw this as a strength of Niji before, talking about everyday mundane things which are relatable and also entertaining. It's a nice change of pace and probably healthier too for the talents who have vastly different offline personalities that have to turn on the switch when working. In short, it's like the branch of reality shows when you're taking a break from the large lore and world-building of Hololive/Holostars.

That's what her song Gravity is about. Now, AZKi made her major debut with Victor Entertainment. IRyS just got a new model and got her 3D. She will be unstoppable once she gets over her cough. Just look forward to their future projects, they're still working for hololive, aren't they? It's not over yet. As for Regloss, Cover is hiring a bunch of experienced staff for them. Unlike years ago Cover is more than ready to start a new virtual artist/group both in quality and financially. I mean, they could make Regloss debut in 3D if they want to, like Sora, Miko and AZKi. But that will start chaos between fans. So now they're just hanging around for a bit and gathering some fanbase while hololive is working on 3D showcases for EN and ID.

    I disagree. It's important to (gently) enforce moral values on a group of strong personalities like content creators. If you dive deep enough you know a significant number of vtubers, including holos, cannot function like responsible adults. Without any core value to humble them they will quickly fall apart. Even Raden is pressured to stop smoking for her senpais. Normally I'd write more, but these days I can just point to NijiEN as proof. No box of moral values = constant drama = fans get tired and stop watching. There's a reason why Hololive is the biggest name in the VTubing industry with relatively few dramas despite their large amount of talents.

    This is just a theory, but I think Dev_Is as a group is conceived for JP applicants who doesn't quite reach hololive standards due to a few gaping flaws, but their entertainment value are still high quality enough to be worth hiring. Basically a "hoard them before other corporations take them in" tactic. Ao: no streaming experience Kanade: lives in Korea so physical communication may be difficult. Japanese is not fluent enough to be holoJP, english is not fluent enough to be HoloEN. Ririka: no streaming experience Raden: no streaming experience or exposure to online culture at all, plus the smoking may pose a risk for the idol branding of the main branch. Additionally several JP talents had openly expressed disdain for smokers in the past. Hajime: not sure about her actually. maybe because her pronounciation is worse than miko? There are talents in other branches with few to no streaming experience like nerissa and kobo, but their branch is not large enough to justify an off-branch yet. Some people think Dev_Is is a Vsinger branch like INNK but that's not true either, only Kanade and Hajime took their singing career seriously before they were hired.

    Interesting take on a 'feeder branch', but it also kind of implies the idea of 'moving up', so you'd be creating a class system within HoloLive which would be extremely weird. Probably very hard on the mental health of talents too, you could get a situation where like a Gen 7 debut stream gets like ~200K views on whilst an offshoot gets like ~20K because it's just not got the same pull. In many ways, I think early EN/ID felt this way; I think Kiara has touched on this in the past You could argue that large numbers of talents provides a more stable business platform for Cover since it distributes risk across a wider area. Imagine if Pekora/Marina/Lamy/Noel decided to start their own company for example, all of their big earners are suddenly out of HoloLive (though I highly doubt this would ever happen). And realistically I think that's the mindset here, lower risk, diverse the portfolio and broaden the talent pool to reach more potential users With that said, I do think the greater the number of talents the more the fan base gets fractured. I know vtubing is a huge growth state but that's also when it's at the most risk of cannabalizing itself

  • @hainsmades3911

    @hainsmades3911

    9 ай бұрын

    @@atarasu-ch That class system you say of has already existed in hololive. It's enforced by the audience, not the talents of Cover corp. One glaring example is how ID, even until now, is always the third wheel between JP and EN, to the point that most fans (or in rare cases, talents) forgot about ID entirely. And don't even get me started on Holostars. But I don't think Cover itself intend to promote ReGloss as second class compared to JP. It's more of opening an alternate gateway to hololive if they dont fit the idol mold, along with diversifying risk as you said. Plus it looks good to the investors. If the only thing they care about is lowering risk they'd just debut all 5 of them under JP7.

    @@hainsmades3911 I'm not that familiar with HoloStars so I decided not to mention them, but I kind of assumed that's how they would feel too to be honest! Maybe that's the idea here; ReGloss and similar 'branches' (?) like this are streaming focused rather than idol focused? But then you'd kind of argue idol activities are secondary to the streaming anyway because you can't 'idol' as often as you can stream. But again, you'd fall into the trap of 'well why can't ReGloss etc put out songs/do concerts?' So I don't think that idea fits either. I think as ever Cover falls into a trap of its own making by making a decision, not really having a clear idea what that decision is, going with it anyway and then sending that messageout and then kind of just doesn't deal with the confusion haha
