Racket Head Acceleration

Спорт

Throw your racket 👆
Sometimes you need to rewire your brain and start from the ground up in under to get the right feel.
In tennis, acceleration of the racket head is key. Hitting a tennis ball is a lot like throwing something or slapping someone. Once you get into this mindset, you’re going to generate effortless power.

My tennis game has improved so much through his videos. He's got a great volley video with two young ladies and idea of not being afraid to miss and to accept the misses really loosens me up. Definitely the go to teacher. I was in high school in 97 and heard of his Florida academy and couldn't afford it but man it was the thing back then.

Patrick! We need more people like you in tennis! Your passion is so great. I have five kids and I'm teaching the two oldest the great game of tennis. It's so sad U.S. Tennis is dying. I'm in the great State of Utah. Thank you for these videos. Trying to get my kids to hold their racket at a five and throw it at the target is so foreign to them. Merci Beaucoup!

I've worked with two high school girls who would strike the ball softly. Initially they could barely get the ball past the net. So when I seen this video I knew exactly what he's specifically targeting with this student. Patrick is trying to convince the player mentally it's okay to swing HARDER and with good technique it will still go in.

I disagree with a lot of what Patrick says but this one I completely agree and I’ve been saying for 6-7 years now. The Modern Forehand has become very similar to the serve. It’s less a “stroke” and more of a “throw.” The kid was already good but it’s still a great instructional video. I’m still learning. Thanks for helping us become better coaches and players.

yes, this isn't bad for this type Fh, but this is not all forehands and you must have at least one more Fh technique.

Same here. Not always in agreement with Coach technically but his approach and attitude are excellent. I've always taught to "strike" the ball, not "stroke" it. A vicious swing with all energy released at contact.

@@swalterstennis I watch many of his vids and like the physics-based approach. I appreciate his disgust with most tennis teaching pros, and the nonsense that they regurgitate for profit. Anyone who has ever used a tool to "drive" an object knows that it's a 'strike' and not a 'stroke'. I believe accurate terminology is essential in both teaching and sharing knowledge and Vlad has gone a long way to further that cause. The striking of the ball and rotate to strike vids clearly define groundstrikes. His approach to teaching the volley as a deflection rather than a punch is without peer. So, to answer your question directly, I don't see myself as a follower, but a fellow teacher in full agreement with his approach. (A new world record in use of commas in a sentence?)

I would go a step further and say that both the BH & FH should be a violent strike whenever possible. The only time I find myself massaging balls in a stroke is on half-volleys of which I am a full-blown Master. And even then, it is nearer a deflection with follow through rather than an actual Stroke.

In a match your arms become stiff, because the traditional way you were taught to correct your swing, but in reality it’s poor foot work. Your swing starts from your legs and hip turn, in order to execute, you want your ‘body’ in be in the right position.

Can’t believe this dude is a top tennis coach 🤦‍♂️. The dude has no idea about body mechanics..most of the power starts from the legs. When you turn your body, your swing starts from the legs and hips and your arm is just following though.
