Racing in a Bikepark? Downhill World Cup Bielsko Biala: This is the new World Cup course in Szczyrk
The second Downhill World Cup of the 2024 season will take place near Bielsko Biala in Poland. The course at the Szczyrk ski resort has been completely built from scratch for the race, which is why there is virtually no information available yet. We are already on site and were able to take a look at large parts of the course a few days before the race.
It's not often that there is a completely new course in the Downhill World Cup. However, Szczyrk, a ski and bike resort near the large town of Bialsko Biala, is not only hosting a World Cup for the first time ever next weekend - there hasn't even been a downhill course here before. Although there is a gondola, it has only been used to access a small network of enduro trails in recent years. That's why the World Cup course was completely rebuilt in the weeks and months leading up to the race, which naturally increased the excitement and anticipation among the riders and fans.
The start is from the middle station of the park, which results in a difference in altitude of around 450 metres. The course length should be just over 2 kilometres. The upper part of the route is characterised by a few larger and many smaller jumps as well as lots and lots of berms. There are always short segments with natural ground before a longer, natural forest section follows a little after the halfway point, which looks a bit like a very fast enduro trail. Due to the completely fresh condition, it is hard to say how the trail will develop until the finale. Good bike park skills are definitely a big advantage. However, the route is definitely not a "flow trail", as there will be large holes and roots. You can find all the information in our video.

Bin erstmal in Szczyrk 2005 gefahren weil ich in der Nähe geboren, hätte nie gedacht das dort irgendwann Worldcup stattfindet freut mich aber sehr 🎉🎉🎉👌👌👌🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱🇵🇱
Da bin ich mal auf das Rennen gespannt und was die Fahrerinnen und Fahrer dazu sagen. Ob man da mit einem Enduro nicht vielleicht schneller wäre? 🤭
Auf dem ersten Blick sieht die strecke nicht so aus als wäre die für den Downhill Worldcup gebaut…. Aber, wenn man bei dem trockenen Boden das fahrerfeld da rüber schickt, wird es sicher einige ordentlich tiefe Spuren und Löcher geben. Und wahrscheinlich schnell sehr ausgefahren sein. Wir werden sehen 😅
im Vergleich zur Black Snake im Val di Sole ja fast ne Autobahn. Aber auch mal geil ehrlich gesagt...und wenn das Feld erst ein paar mal drüber geräubert ist, ist der Hang sicherlich biestig zerfurcht. Aber auf jeden Fall spannendes Bike Resort! Die Enduro Trails der Region sehen ja auch nett aus.

eieiei da waren wohl eher slopestyler als downhiller am Werk beim Streckenbau, mit diesen ganzen Autobahnen und Jumps - aber naja hoffen wir mal das Beste, vielleicht entwickelt sich die Strecke ja noch wenn es mal regnet und die Profis drüberheizen
Dies ist das erste Mal, dass es in Polen organisiert wird. Seien wir positiv und warten wir auf die Meinung der Spieler. Ich frage mich, wie Nina oder Loic die Route bewerten werden . 😎Wir sehen uns beim Rennen 🤟🖐👍

In Whistler ist mit dem 1199 ne Mega DH Strecke. Aber man fährt lieber in Polen ne Bikepark Line

Going from fort William to this kind of track is wild. I feel like times well be very close together. Hopefully the track gets a bit destroyed and more tech.

From what I see is hard to believe this is a DHI WC UCI track, too narrow, to flat, too much bikepark berms, too much artificial jumps with narrow landings. Hope I'm wrong but it looks so boring. This year DHI WC with all the same tracks of all years looks boring, we need more new tracks in different countries. Kind of tired of the same tracks all year we need renovation.
