I was a marshal near where the man crashed at 17:30. He left so much blood later racers commented and he also whacked his head and was a little disoriented. He took the road and made it back OK. Good guy, tough. Another excellent video. Please come back!

At 20:18, I bet it was a bit demoralizing to see that kid on a strider bike that far out front, I wonder where he placed....lol Awesome job to the both of you!

Your single speed racing last year and watching Hardtail Party got me into single speeding a year ago and I absolutely love it. I did my first gravel race a couple weeks ago and did it on my SS MTB. It was a blast! 3 hours for 32 miles. Glad to see you back on the SS! Syd when you talked about not finding that race fire, I knew exactly what you were saying. That’s a tough spot to be in but finding the enjoyment in the ride is really all you can do sometimes. You guys post what really happens. Genuine victory and genuine struggle. I know us commenters don’t really know you but we certainly appreciate your realness.

I love how you both asked if riders off the trail needed help! And Syd kudos to you for stopping for that guy to make sure he was okay and letting the marshall know. No better way to exemplify 'Being More Awesome"!!👋👋

Good job guys. Dave Wiens refers to the Growler as "Death by a Thousand Cuts", which I found out the hard way on a hard tail last year. I cant imagine doing it on a single speed. Impressive.

Yes, I get all the cardio I need watching others suffer. Have to save my energy for pushing my jump bike back up the hill.

I love how real this is. I'm no where close to being as fast, but it gave me comfort seeing the leaders also walking some parts.

As someone with long hair, "Hair interference" is the story of my life. Haha. Great video!

Syd, your "frantic descending" would have left me with some extra padding in my shorts!

Haven't decided yet. Really enjoyed that race but there's some other stuff around the same time that we want to check out, so it's still up in the air.

Fun watching you guys on a trail system I've ridden before (and absolutely love). Gunnison and Hartman Rocks was our favorite spot on a Colorado road trip 3 years ago.

I think Macky was the national champ on SS last year so yeah…he’s pretty good at it.

Great job to both of you. I’ve done one SS race over the years. It’s a unique form of entertainment. Though there are 3 speeds: standing, sitting and walking.

My friend finally sold my his green All City Nature Boy and its the one bike I've been wanting for a long time. I found it crazy that I'm beating all my PR's on the hills. lol Guess you don't have a choice on SS. My wife is from Farmington & I'm from AZ. I miss that long fast flowy stuff that the midwest is lacking! Great race! Keep being awesome you two. I'll have to save up for one of those awesome jerseys.

Macky is a machine, yet a very nice human being.

This is just what I needed for today. It's pouring cats and dogs and the vehicle in front of you can't be seen. So trails are absolutely closed. It's always great to see you two racing. I loved the little team bit at the first of the race. I know how bad the gopro affect is and I'm amazed at how well yall handled those punchy rock climbs!

impressive Macky..I mean..I couldnt do that on an Ebike much less single speed. The next week would be me laying in bed doing nothing lol...Syd always another day..you still did good.

Looks like a really nice desert riding location surprized your not running a lockout I bought a lockout for my lyrik i run on my hardtails and its the best thing ever .

I've trained myself to talk to the camera while racing because otherwise there's no good way to share what's going on in my head...

SS always in the wrong gear. Great video on the misery that is racing :)

You guys were in my backyard! I love Hartmans:)

when I race MTB's, my favorite was SS. I often raced my SS in the geared class. sure you need the fitness, but I often felt faster on my SS.

Since I sometimes suffer quite a bit on steep climbs even on my average geared road bike, I don't even want to imaging what climbing a steep technical trail on a single speed must feel like...

I think that new race kit was worth at least a few minutes off your time Macky 😉

You guys should race the Mohican 100 in Ohio. It’s probably the hardest 100 mile MTB race.

I imagine it was a pretty low blow to the ego for everybody Mackey was easily passing on a single speed

You guys should look into racing the Dakota 50 in Spearfish South Dakota this fall

Yeah it’s possible to race 40 miles with a single speed but, I used to race a ridged single speed for both MTB races and cross races.

Who needs colored bottle caps when you have a pony-tail cam :-)

Which beer has the Zia caps? Looked at Santa Fe Brewing but all they have are cans in Las Cruces. Looks like a fun course, have to load it on my Wahoo and give it a go in non-Beast mode. Great job finishing 1st and amazing top 10 among the geared counterparts.

Yeah, Santa Fe Brewing used to do bottles and we have caps left over from them. The blue ones we had custom made so we could have different caps for the POV.
