It seems this is the 3rd version from 1941. I personally love the original 1926 version the most, but this is still absolutely brilliant!

Yes, Daniel - and what a sumptuous gift to celebrate. There are many wonderful pianists, but Anna's keen intelligence eschews some of the excesses that certain pianists indulge in, whilst losing none of the rapture, richness and soulful incandescence. She is indubitably a world treasure.

One of the greatest female pianists of all time Period !!!!!

I can’t imagine the amount of discipline and strength needed to perform all Rachmaninov piano concertos, let alone from memory, marvelous job!

At the beginning of this month I went to a concert in London to watch the Prokofiev 2PC along with other orquestral pieces. For my surprise, I saw located in first row just in front of the orquestra Anna Fedorova. She enjoyed the concert as we did the others, and I don't think she was recognized so much by the general public. I was really fortunate to saw her. So humble and ethereal!!

It happens that all 4 concertos are magical, tho. 🥲 when you listen to the 2nd concertos enough times to let it sit for a while, know that the other 3 concertos do have that magic too! 😂 It's a real blessing being able to listem to all of them... and by the hands of Fedorova!We are so lucky.

I love this piece so much! Also it´s worth listening to the original version, as he extends more on some of the Piano solo themes, and you may, like me end up loving that one even more than this final version.

I first listened to the third and didn’t understand. Then I listened to the second and loved it. I went back to three and loved it. Then one, now four. I don’t know which I like best. They are all so different.

Anna Fedorova + Rachmaninov Pianoconcert = Perfection!

I will most probably never see Ms Federova perform in person. But have thoroughly enjoyed each of her Rachmaninof performances on u-tube. In my humble opinion Ms Fedorova has both great technique and especially feeling for Rachmaninof compositions. What a wonderful pianist she is. Greetings from South Africa. 3rd

17:05 is possibly one of the most heart-wrenching moments of all of his 4 concertos.

By far the best concert I’ve ever experienced. Not that many yet, but I think she will stay on no.1 for a long time. So glad I was there. She was so powerful. I sat perfectly in the grote zaal. Amazing experience. The conductor and orchestra were amazing too! All love to Miss. Fedorova. I hope she will give a lot more concerts in future. 💖

What a powerhouse Anna is! Her power is fiendishly strong; her lyricism is heavenly! She is made to play Rachmaninov!

@@robbierman2946 We are two equal first concertmasters in the orchestra and she wanted to sit outside for this concert. Since I have already played the Concertgebouw so many times it was her turn. Next time I’ll be outside again.😉🫶🏻

Wonderful concerto indeed, Anna and the orchestra are brilliant once again here, a truly lovely spectacle for eyes & ears. Great to see you back here Sabrina after the phenom which is Anna playing Rach 2 at the same venue. I'm sure will watch this countless times too, along with your own videos of course!

2nd movement, close eyes and be absorbed by the delicious tones. I loved 1,2 and 3 but this is something else.

I'm impressed on one hand for the amazing skill of this joung Lady and on the other hand for the Rachmaninoff treatment of the orchestra which is soloist as well as the pianist. How can I explain the concept? Man is not against the society like the fantastic piano concertos by Prokofiev or Shostakovic. With Rachmaninoff man and society walk together hand in the hand. You do not feel any conflict even if the piano part is evil, bloody difficult, something available just for extraordinary and rare pianists. So difficult that to play them perfectly you must somehow became Rachmaninoff yourself.

Blinking brilliance. The beauty of her playing with that orchestration is something to behold. Rachmaninov's woodwind arrangements are sublime

I have also seen Anna Fedorova performance for this wonderful Concerto when she was 18/19 years old in Mexico! She was awesome then years ago and so is she now!

Wonderful performance from both Anna and the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie. Impeccable sound, great conductor. Might be one of my favourite renditions of this piano concert. I'm sure it was an astonishing experience for those who attended this performance.

Perfection is both a blessing and a curse. I can only feel what Rachmaninoff felt during the entire composition process.

Like hearing it for the first time! Superb performance and totally awesome sound with stunning orchestral details.

My favorite of the four! Remembering how novel it struck me; so different and forward looking from the previous three. But I knew it was the same genius who decided on a unique departure. I determined to be expansive; opened my mind and my heart and soul followed into a new dimension of beauty and admiration. The last words of the commentator I find Dutch nonsense. This concert isn't jazzy, it has only one Broadway-element before the recapitulation of the first movement, but that's a hommage . This concert is much more difficult to understand as the other concerts of Rachmaninov. But it is deep Russian, like the others. And Anna Federova's interpretation is phantastic. 💚🧡 ❤ 🎼🎹

Until about 20 years ago, Rach4 was only for lovers of the author. From a good recording by Vladimir Askenasy, several recent readings of the work have appeared, which is wonderful.

Rach 4 is rife with some of the most difficult and "disconnected." leggiero passages that barely have anything to do with the harmonics going on in the orchestral accompaniment. The Second movement is the most coherent of the sections. We expect Rachmaninoff to concentrate his solo works with virtuosity, but most of this is virtuosity for that sake only. There are reasons why this work is not played as often as the other 3 concertos. Audiences have a difficult time perceiving it. This is not intended to disparage Anna's performance in any way. It is astonishing as always to view a pianist who has the courage and discipline to even attempt #4. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
