This piece is a happy sob, a phone call from your lover across the country whom you haven't seen in months and yet there's a lingering sorrow: the lurking goodbye in each-other's tone while minutes tick by and it seems neither of you can forget that you are far off and so lonely. It is love strangled by distance.

Exactly. My friend played this piece at a party out of nowhere, it really captured me and I haven’t stopped thinking about it since. My first love was an incredible pianist and this piece reminds of her and the special moments when I could just watch her play. I miss her a lot.

Especially this song

The first version I heard that actually has consistent dynamics that allow Kreisler's melody to be heard as intended. People tend to to overemphasize all the notes Rachmaninoff wrote as pure "decoration" so that the actual melody drowns in a sea of inconsistent dynamics.

Step 1: Try to find someone that knows anything about piano. Otherwise, use the internet to look up sheet music and how it works Step 2: With the help of some KZread videos, learn to play the Kreisler only version (NOT the Rachmaninoff version). Even use the MIDI visualizer videos to learn it if you have to. For beginners, it might take a month or so, but it’s worth it for music 🎶

Just remember, if you're going to learn piano, do NOT start with this piece. This piece is virtually impossible for beginners.

@@mostafa12890 its possible for beginners. if they do learn it they'll probably play it badly and injure themselves a lot as a consequence of not studying phrasing and proper movements but they still learnt it. I know this because i went from sonata no. 16 to love dream without the proper steps.

@@brawby6499 Well, it's possible to start with a hard song, but that won't really help your piano playing. You'll just learn to play one song/piece and not how to play piano And also it's faster and way easier to learn a piece if you have experience with other piano pieces

although, i voted for the "widmung," this was a great encore, nonetheless, "romantical" and coquettish. thank you for a beautiful recital , certainly worth the 130 mile drive.

I felt like flying above the clouds while listening. I'm also playing piano for 4 years but our teachers don't teach us these, or maybe i don't understand. I mean how georgous are the touches of her hands to the keys. And how marvelous she uses the pedals. The sound is like coming from the heaven.

Damn this is the best rendition I've ever heard from this song! Not too ~feely~ yet not too rigid. I can tell this is played by the bottom of the pianist's heart

Such a beautiful rendition, so sentimental. You have such a gentle touch in the tender parts. This reminds me of my mom's playing.

I started paying attention to Tiffany after hearing her room recital of Ravel's La Valse. She literally swept me up. The goosebumps still resonate.

I love how Rachmaninoff make the same melody seem so different in 1:23 and 3:18 Genius of him!! Thanks Tiffany for pouring so many hours of effort for such a short perfomance

What I like most about your interpretation is that you really bring out the "sorrow" with a tone of melancholy. It's amazing.
