I like how in the first season, Joey hadn't been lobotomized yet!...he was never super smart but he had some semblance of intelligence here, they didn't have to explain to him that Chandler said too much!....he picked up on it with the rest of the group!

There were telltale signs, him asking if Ross is goint to China "the country?". Him not recognizing if they're still on topic with the comedian and ticket metaphors (kissing and s**), which was I believe as early as episode 2. There's plenty of times Joey's been portrayed as stupid even during season 1.

@@unendingparadox1629 it's understandable. After that many seasons, writers tend to make characters more of a caricature of what they were in the beginning to keep them interesting, although I don't think that is necessary.

The way Joey instantly leans back to distance himself from Chandler gets me every time 😂😂

wouldn't work because Chandler specifically said that Ross spent this kind of money on the gift because he was in love. He never said Ross spends this much money on gifts in general, and that was what Rachel and others picked up right away.

She knew he had a big crush on her in high school, but she probably thought that was in the past and that he no longer felt that way. After all, several years had passed and Ross had even been married before Rachel came back into his life.

For the last time, they were on A BREAK!

Ross was the dumbest character in the show. He’s always walking around with his feelings hurt because he’s got zero clue. How and why they matched up a goddess like Aniston with his character always annoyed me. Then there’s Joey. He had an opportunity to have her walking sideways but he “couldn’t”. WTF? One of the best shows ever made. Strange, but a good show.

Ross tried to tell Rachel countless times before he actually did (after Chandler already revealed the truth here). And the comedy of this situation was exactly the reason why they did it, it's a SITCOM, genius. So if you don't get it, maybe you are dumb.😂 They paired Jen and David because they both had insane chemistry and are both brilliant in these roles. If you don't know it, you didn't watch this show. They did it because Ross and Rachel were crazy insane hot together, the best chemistry on the show (even tho I hate how spoiled, and toxic Rachel treated Ross, I can't deny the chemistry is there), and Joey and Rachel as a couple was a cringe, forced storyline, out of nowhere in season 8, so at the end of the show when Ross&Rachel were already established as star-crossed lovers on this show. Ross was also the funniest one, not dumb. This comment is dumb.

Rachel in this episode just made me mad. 1:37 "does he want to go out with me?" I swear either chandler or Joey should have said sarcastically "no Rachel the guy who's desperately in love with you doesn't want to go out with you he just wants to be miserable and pine for you from afar and fight the urge to stick a knife in his chest everytime you get a new boyfriend. Rachel had a good point though - Ross dropped a vague hint way back in the pilot, and this scene is probably at least 6 months later without Ross saying anything else to her.

I never cared about the ross and rachel storyline. I liked it when Chandler and Monica got together. That was great!!
