"You cannot take risk, venture into the unknown, navigate uncertainty without trust." Unexpected but great topic to talk about Nicolai. Seems trust is critical between CIO and risk takers. Would like to know how Ken Griffin and other CIOs on engender trust while being ruthless with managers.

I think this episode is as important (if not more) than other episodes. Why does he call it “bonus episode”. This episode is more insightful than other shiny answers from some of the CEOs.

What we see in German society is that they are intentionally abusing selected individuals like me such that it is difficult to discern whether it is me who is a criminal or the system that is wrong. They give me books like 'how to make friends and influence people' but imagine the cruelty of these people that they abuse you and then tell you to work harder to become friends with them. I am forced to trust a society that is abusive towards me and this hasn't changed for years so I am not sure what is the point of this research when trust can be forced and doesn't need to be earned. The way Mr Tangen is talking to Ms Botsman, I can tell you no one in this country has ever talked to me and yet I continue to live, work here out of lack of choice. There is quite a bit of research from countries with apartheid type regimes that people are abused, they don't develop trust and they get abused more. Thankfully I will never qualify for employment at the NBIM because I am not the top 1%
