She had the best record for a 3 year old filly. She beat the Kentucky Derby and the Belmont stakes winner that year. She shattered Ruffians stakes record in the Mother Goose. She's the only filly to win a G1 stakes race against older males in the Woodward! Greatest filly of all time!

When RA was at her best (during her 7 race win streak)....I think she was better than Zenyatta. RA ran faster times, had better speed figures, broke more track and stakes records, and won by wider margins. Zenyatta had better staying power. Not all horses mature at the same rates. Some can maintain top form for a longer duration of their career, and Zenyatta did that.

If you stop at 2:21 you can clearly see the difference, GGG's & RA's front legs are in the same position, but by GGG's head you can see she's already pulled her back legs up. While RA's are still on the ground pushing. This is why she should not run on fake surfaces, since most injuries are to the hind legs. The other horses run on their front legs, RA runs on her hind legs. This gives her a tremendous bio mechanical advantage.

Rachel Alexandra wasn't the same horse when she raced Zardana ,otherwise she would have won that race by open lengths as well.

I find it hilarious how some people get all angry and all up in someones face over a horse. It would take a complete idiot to do that. Congrats there, little fella.

WOW!!! Gabby's Rachel Half-Sister???? I get a kick out of her trainer on her last workout before this race. He wasn't working her out, she was working HIM out!!! LOLOLOL!! Poor Gaby he's right. She ran her ass off!!! I am so in love with RA words can't explain it!!!!! :)

I don't like to compare horses of different generations or on paper. However I have seen some simulations done by racing experts that compared horses throughout the years. Rachel and zenyatta doesn't even belong to the class of the likes ruffian, lady's secret and bayakoa..... and on

She was never the same horse after her Woodward, where she posted blazing fractions to set the pace and then held off multiple challengers. That race gutted her, and the good male horses who challenged her there. Google the Blood Horse article "Rachel and the Woodward" by Steve Haskin.

Whoever the idiot is that says RA doesnt belong in the ranks of those other top fillies is not a horseman, anyone who really knows horse racing knows that RA and ruffian are heads and tails way above any other fillies in fact RA actually put together better races against boys and older horses, when she raced her own she would win by 20 under a hand ride sorry peeps she is not omly the best female by her 2009 campain she is in top ten of all time because she could have and did demolish all records w ease, no argument can change the facts laid out right before your eyes, the races and her class shoots down anything one person can say against her, number uno period...

you could OBVIOUSLY see Rachel wasnt putting out her best when she was beat by Zardana, she wasnt even trying her best, thats why she lost, but Im sure if she did, she would have KICKED zardana's ass, and same for stupid zenyattas

lets keep it real..rachel was destroying her own sex by 20 lengths every other race..while zenyatta was beating HORRIBLE horses on fake syntheric tracks..while rachel alsooo was beating up on the male horses and older horses..male too..did zenyatta ever ONCE even run on real dirt track or just synthetic?..zenyatta would never be able to catch rachel..please lets be real

They matured/peaked at different times. I don't know if we really could say one would thrash the other honestly... lets just appreciate their amazing achievements and historic wins :)
