Racer X Films: Ken Roczen Back on the Bike

Ken Roczen has been back on the bike for about two months now since his horrific crash in January. He has been slowly getting back into the swing of riding and training. Ken's coming back into form and is still adjusting to his new limitations, but is on track for his return to racing. We sat down with Ken last week and he gave us an update on his progress since being back on the bike and when we can expect to see him line up to race again.

    Super good thing this injury was not on the throttle arm. ; ) His riding looks to be more calculated and smooth in this video (probably only going 70% of his natural speed, understandably) - I think he will come back smoother and more consistent. Guy is a Champion, he'll be back and win many more Titles.

    Awesome, I broke my tibia and fibula, almost a compound, at Indian Dunes, International track, LA area, and was in a cast/brace for 1 year. It took over a year to get full motion back in my ankle and knee since they were locked up for so long. It is never going to break there again with all the calcium build up. Hope your motion comes back too Ken.

    Hopefully when he comes back he's competitive because this sport needs him right now. With that being said when you get upwards of 8 surgeries done on your arm it must of been straight up mangled and there is a very good chance we've seen the best of Ken Roczen.

    Big Roczen fan long before he came to the US, worries me he's riding a 450 so soon and doing multiple days, just seems like he's pushing hard, I hope he's getting the right advice, he's too young to have an injury like this ruin his career, I still remember RJs wrist never being the same and he pushed it hard! It got worse the longer he rode a Moto! I'm really surprised with his mobility that he's not starting back on a 250f first and building up, but what do I know, have had multiple injuries and that's what I learnt from my experiences, you have to train but work up! Just my 2c, I hope he doesn't get rektd by pressure from outside and inside forces eg Honda and other people is all. Hope he does make a full recovery and stays healthy till he's ready to race again, good luck KR🤙

  • @wakeboarder028

    @wakeboarder028

    He hasn't raced 250s in over 3 years. It is only natural for him to hop back on the bikes he is most used to. Honda pays him to increase their 450 sales too. I think the pressure to get back to racing is coming from within... the drive that only champions have.

    Tomac had a serious crash, double shoulder surgery and now Kenny has (obviously Kens was a bit more serious) so in my mind Tomac had to fight back and get where he is and Kenny will do the same. Should make things interesting at the very least. They are both badass dudes that the sport is lucky to have. Best of luck KR this yeah in SX.

    I'm amazed at all of the naysayers stating that KR is done, career ending injury blah blah blah... People said that about ET3 also. And Trey Canard. And Doug Henry. Those people have no idea what they're talking about, and obviously do not race. Those kind of people will never be winners or champions. KR looks pretty fast to me, and I fully expect him to be back up to speed sometime during the Supercross season. Maybe sooner. He will win races this year. Just Watch, all you negative Nancies, and learn a thing or two about winners.

    Everyone saying Kenny won’t be the same are obviously forgetting the fact that Doug Henry broke his back in ‘95 and was already winning motos again in ‘96. And correct me if I’m wrong but I’m pretty sure he won the 1998 250 Motocross Championship. It’s been done before and trust me...it’ll happen again. Just don’t hop on the Roczen band wagon when he starts winning again.

    Didn't know he had a signature goggle. I know that Gajser in the GPs is a Fox athlete too but he chose to ride with a Progrip goggle because he has problems with the FOX goggle. On FOX advertisements you see him wearing a FOX goggle though, so he doesn't seem to have a contract with Progrip. Figured it was the same for Ken (as he wears FOX for everything else), not sure though.
