With the COVID Pandemic, I work from home 98% of the time. Gone are the days of taking the Widebody to work then taking a long way home to unwind after a tough day. The Hellcat often sits for a few weeks at a time. When I take the car out for a run, I started to notice a mild vibration in the steering wheel for 15-20 minutes. At first, I was worried about wheel balance, Air suspension issues, tire bubbles, etc.
The fact that it goes away in 15-20 minutes, and I can repeat the issue if I leave the car sitting on the concrete garage floor for around 12 days, I came to realize this issue was flat spots.
After researching tons of options, I concluded that Race Ramps FlatStoppers was the path I wanted to take. I'm happy to report after a month of testing; I no longer have the flat spot issue. The Race Ramps FlatStoppers are convenient and quickly set up; they are also compact and simple to store when not in use - making it a low level of effort to take out the car whenever a sunny Salt-Free winter day presents itself.
My 2018 Widebody Hellcat has 305's which are 12.05" wide. I went with the 16" wide Race Ramps FlatStoppers, which gives me a 2" extra on each side, making it much easier to line up and gives me room to grow to the 315s at 12.4" or even 335s at 13.2".
Race Ramps also offers the following Sizes
10" FlatStoppers RR-FS-10 - amzn.to/3niyDRm
14" FlatStoppers RR-FS - amzn.to/34cIAZ7
16" FlatStoppers RR-FS-16-SC - amzn.to/383lZiD
Using the Race Ramps FlatStoppers is very easy; place them under your tires and carefully drive up. The Race Ramps FlatStoppers have a rubber-like coating and did not move. When driving off, don't forget to move the 2 in your way, so you don't go over them.
So far so good after a month of use, I don't suffer from flat spots. I plan on using the Race Ramps FlatStoppers every time I park in the garage for the winter season. I will report back in the spring on how they worked out in the long term.

I anchor bolted a 4" x 4" x 8' to the garage floor to ensure I do not back into cabinets at the rear of my garage - similar situation to your shelves. When I got my Challenger, the wheelbase was different versus the old Mopar B-Bodies I had. So what worked for me was to lay a second 4 x 4 in front of the bolted pylon and it works 100% of the time. It looks like these tire cradle ramps could be butted up the the wood and set similar to the video except the wood eliminates the risk of going to far back and the dreaded position variation.

Thanx for the video - I've been a dumb ass for not getting these sooner....getting new set of shoes for the Hellcat next week, so I'll be ordering me some of these now. Props for mentioning the different widths for various tire sizes (I run staggered w 275's up front & 305s rear), so that was helpful. Cheers!

Good video and just on time. I got a tight garage as well and I’m putting a S-550 Mercedes on them. It’s a little pain having to keep getting out to set the front ones, they should develop ones for the front specifically so you can drive over them. Thanks for the video👍🏽👍🏽 I also have 2 Battery maintainers plugged in as I got a battery up front and one in the back as well. I installed the quick plugs for those.

Thanks for sharing this. I just put my GT on the race ramps two days ago and noticed my front tires ever so slightly sit over the ridge line (just before the cup). The tires look to be pushed in somewhat at that line which concerned me but seeing that the ramps conform in your video, I am no longer worried. 😀

This is cool. I have Nitto Invos, 315 in the back 275 up front, and they go flat after less than 8 hours. Vibration goes away after 2 miles on the highway. These ramps would be perfect if the fronts were bi-directional so you could drive on and off of them without having to move them out of the way every time.

I have a set of these flatstoppers. I left my BMW 535i xdrive parked on these in March 2020 in my garage in Arizona. The tires are Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 with only 5,000 miles on them. Unfortunately, I was unable to get back to the car until October 2021 and the tires are flat spotted. Trying to work them out but may have to replace all 4.

Sorry, the T-Handle shift knob is not something I plan to buy. I do know from past experience the Automatic pistol grip works extremely well and looks amazing. The T-handle has the same mounting design and installs the same. Take a look at some of the reviews on the Pistol grip. For both installs you need to leave the original shifter head in place, you simply tuck it away inside the center console.

Ouch $375 for the ramps. I saw some race ramps for $150. 5 ton support. But not sure if they are low enough with a added front splitter. If you ever come across some around that price that will work with a 3.5 inch ZL1 splitter would love to know

  • @WorkPlayDrive

    @WorkPlayDrive

    3 жыл бұрын

The 72" is the set that will work with a splitter, it's got a low 6.8 degree approach then once you're off the ground that final 6" is a 10.8 degree incline. The lesser expensive 56" will work for a 1" lowered hellcat and scat pack, but not with a splitter.

@@WorkPlayDrive crap! I checked amazon. The ones I was looking at are 46 inches long. I guess those wont work. I dont have the splitter yet but really want one. Im hesitant because i saw a youtube video that said do not mount a splitter like this. And he talked about how the splitter rods mount to the existing holes in the grill. Just unscrew the screw already there, hold up the rod, replace screw. I like this because no taking off the front bumper to mount brackets to the bumper support. But apparently his splitter got ripped off at speed and pulled his grill out too.. He went on to say how some people damage their bumpers as well when this happens. I know you mounted a ZL1 splitter. I cant remember in that video how you mounted the rods. The splitter was a ZL1 so I assume you mounted it to the grill like they tell you to. How fast have you had the car? I assume the splitter held up?
