@@CYMotorsport if one of Ferrari's drivers challenge for the title which is possible. There is no doubt they were sandbagging in pre-season testing, I mean it's obvious. It would be Charles Leclerc. While Vettel may be 'free'; he can't change strategies.

I just tought about the 2017 season. The chance was so high, higher than 2018 and Vettel drove so well, as a long year Ferrari and Vettel fan it breaks my heart that it didnt work out with the title.

THANK YOU. yeah it's something I feel strongly about. I literally cant stand how the era is written off. especially post 17, merc has had to fight tooth and nail. it's really been ferrari's for the taking. there's a reason lewis keeps winning though. and this season he showed better than he ever has in his entire career IMO

I’d love to see you explore the return of Red Bull post-Renault, -and the redemption of Honda post-McLaren. How did it come to fruition that in 2018, McLaren with Alonso would find itself by far the worst of the three Renault teams on the field and revealed to be inept at chassis construction as well? How did Red Bull’s cars go from unreliable messes to Mercedes fighters instantly within a season?

Coz Newey and co. Had the good idea that perhaps they talked about what they were doing before they did it, open minded. McLaren were cagey about other teams later having Honda engines with McLaren wizardry, so kept their engine supplier in the dark as much as possible. Caused poor Honda a lot of difficult issues (like rehashing a perfect engine into such a narrow ass, Honda said straight off the bat "it will cook in race condition" to which McLaren replied ; your problem, you're contractually obliged... It was a shit relationship, where as Red Bull have worked hand in glove without dictating dumb design parameters from the off. Good job Newey on recognising McLarens fuck up!

that's really the key. ANY other driver really, he wins. the car was superb post break. but hamilton pressed when you were bleeding and left you gutted. all in all, seb had a great year. Hamilton was so good when Seb wasn't though it made people forget that.

I didn't see the trailer part in the title. I was so disappointed.

As a Vettel fan - it really hurts to think he could've been the 6x world champion and Hamilton the 4x champion, if he drove a bit better. But I do think that had the team embraced him better, gave him better machinery, had better strategists, Vettel would not have had to strain so much and hence would have driven better.

Prithvidiamond I dont disagree. But I think 2018 Seb not driving as well as 2017 Seb was part of 2 things - the 2018 car was more focused on straightlines than downforce, and Seb generally has preferred cars leaning towards downforce... and Seb had lost some confidence to Ferrari. I think he felt that if he was gonna win the title he needed to carry the team, which then overstrained him and overpressured him

Lol well first yes, I easily could. I don’t update youtube bc I don’t wanna set a precedent where that mindset takes hold. Vettel was so close in 2017 & 2018. Such a shame.

Seb did mess up on a few occasions in 2017, but even if you swapped him with hamilton, the Merc would have still won the title. In the 2nd half of the season they fixed most of the issues with the car and they had enough of a power and reliability advantage to get it done. The real missed opportunity was 2018, yes the singapore updates failed and in the last stretch of the championship merc had clearly the better car, but up until monza if Seb had a better season he should have been easily 30-40 points ahead, it should have gone down to the last race to decide both WDC, and WCC, and everything can happen then. Also Vettel's car was bulletproof that year, no issues in qually or race, Hamilton retired once and had issues in during qually for the German GP

I will never understand why everyone puts blame on Seb for losing 2017 title, only major mistake I remember him making that year was in Singapore, with Baku being an overreaction, but to say he lost the title because of those two moments is ridiculous considering how much Ferrari was fucking up in second part of the year, even without those 2 incidents he wouldn't have won it thanks to Ferrari.

The point is though, COULD he have even won? Did he have the car? He made a couple other mistakes. But overall it was actually a solid year. Mexico is def his mistake. Baku is def his mistake. Malaysia post race is def his mistake.

@@CYMotorsport he definitely had the car in first half, but imo Mercedes did catch up in second half, combine with him retiring from Japanese GP due to car failure and starting last in Malaysia, even without his mistakes in Mexico, Baku and Singapore he wouldn't have won, it would have been close, but not enough for the title. At least imo.

yeah this is a good take. it wasn't quite the W08 was that much better. it became better as Valtteri and Hamilton worked with engineers on the tyre window. but it was the perfect storm of bad luck and errors. but more so Lewis seizing on them

What kind of maniac bangs wheels? Of course it’s not going to work out well haha that’s a trigger happy driver. When he’s hot there isn’t a single driver better on the planet. But you can only have the best car so many times. It doesn’t last. What makes him so good is also his curse. It doesn’t play in a car slightly down. This differs sharply from the driving style of Alonso. But therein lies the issue. Why Seb beats Alonso 10/10 in 2010 and 2012. Alonso if close enough to parity is in the ball game and rarely takes the win. I believe from the bottom of my heart if you flip Alonso and Seb those years, no chance Alonso wins four. BUT Alonso would win 18, and take 17 to the desert atleast

CrankyYankeeF1 every driver gets heated at some point. I know vettels actions were terrible but he still lead the championship at the summer break. He clearly had what it took to win. And at 3 of vettels strongest tracks he only got 12 points compared to Hamilton’s 68. He got very unlucky that season. And i agree that alonso wouldn’t have won 4 titles from 2010-2013 if he was in vettels position. In my opinion vettel is definitely better than alonso

Oooh ooh oh Can't wait I've been hanging on how I REALLY WANT SEB TO HIT IT OUT THE PARK THIS SEASON. I want it. I don't care so much about the WDC as much as him coming out dominant over an under-developed over-hyped little prancing Prince from Monaco. Seb is LITERALLY driving for his life now. It matters. It matters to his kids, his legacy, his standing. Seb IS what everyone wants Alonso to be; the complete driver, who can consistently get more out of an underwhelming car than he should. His flaw is his emotional discipline, ie, he has none. Yet that flaw has also served him as much as stung him. Also getting a lot of shit, Crank, for saying Black Liveries don't Matter. Certainly NOT from a company with such a troubling racial history (as in... The material and financial support of Hitler). Black paint means fuck all, sick virtue signal from a huge inhuman corporation. Yet, having a black driver from a shithole like stevenage, getting where he is by merit, and kicking everyone's ass on track for over a decade, THAT means a lot! Does so much for the perception of racial equality, it really does, and while I'm not a massive Lewis fan I LOVE that a little UK chap of colour is out there winning. I doubt Haas will get any retroactive props for a black livery... Not saying they should... Coz it's fucking meaningless!!! Good to see Aldas. He pushes your channel quite a bit.
