    Yes, good race rapport ! - learning is king. Very few just get it right first first race, and thous who do, gets errors, smaller or bigger ones drippet out over the next 10 races.. For a successful racing year, better to do some learning up front in the first races (+ get the stomach issues and what) - then the next race, experiencing "wow" now this is racing, doing better, and then the next one even better - many don't realize, the effect - these small motivations "one step up's" - have. (if you do not come from 5 years collage sprint / OL triathlons, and "naturally" "just" advance to 1/2 & full IM's). Cool to follow, and both your sharing of - frustration - not just success & knowledge makes your vid posts valuable - both as a triathlete my self, motivation as well at valued "sport entertaining". From thinking naaah.. yet one more to follow... Already following and learning from Lionel, Lucy, Ruth (Astle): 1. Valuable quality knowledge + 2. Good Athlete personality + 3. Good production quality, - a couple of your vid's, made me see you actually had the same characteristic. And your special take on things + "profile: not 22 but 30+ & having had a career outside athletics, now realizing a dream, make you very interesting to watch (& learn from). Even the very real frustration after Oceanside + reflections and "up on the horse again" perhaps one lost battle but, still a full war of plenty battles to win - in front. Makes even the "fiascos" a success, part-wise at least. Looking forward to next time, when - when I check the name & bib number it will be, not only in the fight, but up in front 🙂 Kind regards Henrik

    I had a DNF two years ago, couldn't finish the swim for a panic attack. Totally get the disappointment, BUT, it's coming back that makes you stronger. You will kick ass at the next race !

    Sickness is one of the hardest thing for me . Uncontrollable. Very hard to accept the uncertainty and unfairness . Whether you are a pro or a dad trying to stay fit with triathlon. Every time I get something my only re assurance is how much I enjoy my next training session when all is normal . Keep it up 👍 💪

    So unfortunate 😢. After all the preparation that you invested beforehand I really wanted to see you crushing that course, especially on the bike! Remind yourself to keep the spirits high, particularly during hard times. Wish you all the best for the next race!

    Hate to see this happen to you. Did my first IM in this race and for like four weeks before the race I was so Paranoid about getting sick I was constantly washing my hands. Sucks for it to come down to something more or less uncontrollable. You’ll get them next time!

    Sorry that this happened. It’s heartbreaking when so much effort is put into the process. You looked very depleted on race morning and it’s admirable that you got to the start line.

    I really wish I could have seen you this past weekend at IM Texas, but maybe next year. Not sure where you got sick from, but you have to be careful swimming in open water since there is a lot of bacteria which can get worse as it gets hotter here in Texas.

    Unlucky - possibly got it in your open water swims day before the race. I know its good to swim on the course leading up to a race, but its ALWAYS a risk with open water that you pick up some bacteria no matter how "clean" the water is claimed to be....

    You'll be back stronger Matti! What was the technical issue that cost you 50 Watts? You mentioned changing bearings, but you have good quality wheels, so optimizing that should not be more than a few watts?

  • @MattiWeitz

    @MattiWeitz

    Ай бұрын

    Yea bearings were a bit worn but not the main issue, it was a valve & tire pressure issue of the disc + the small valve adapter to pump air in was misreading pressure, so never was at 6.2bars, probably way under. Felt like brakes were on, so with new disc race pace speed went from ~ 37-38kph to 43-44kph, also why I felt so unsafe on downhills, would've hit the rim probably. Well, fixed now - must've had this a long while with that disc.
