I know, I thought I wouldn't be able to either. But they have the best life unlike factory farmed meat from the supermarket. Chicks, Piglets, lambs, calves are all cute too

Let me rephrase that last sentence, "Chicken nuggets, baby back ribs, kabobs, and veal are all very tasty too"

There's an idea, the rabbit retriever! It should work with some training so long as the dog doesn't get the leftover bits of the carcasses. Ducks in the fall and rabbits whenever they get out.

I appreciate how you really give them space to live their rabbitness lol. I bet they love it. Is that something you could do while gone to work all day? Would that be safe enough for them? Janice

Nice, they look wonderfully happy. Nice job on the run. And I know how you feel at butchering time, I still can't get my self to do it. I keep procrastinating the purchase of my herd because I know that I would have to butcher them at some point..lol

rabbits have been used for meat for hundreds of years . same as cows and other domesticated animals . It's not nice killing them but it's the circle of life and you can choose not to eat meat but stop giving other hassle.she is actually living quiet a sustainable life which is better than going to the shop and buying factory meat (where the animals are abused ) so lay off .

My rabbits actually do burrow in the corners when they're close to kindling but I always keep them moving which keeps them fairly happy. They've delivered in their birthing boxes every time. I've never had an issue with any other rabbits digging though.

I am very interested in raising New Zealands in the near future for meat and to use their pelts for my personal use. I was wondering what colors you breed to get the broken black and white kits? And if you had a black buck and a white doe, would they still throw solid kits? Thanks so much for your time to answer my questions =)

+ahorsewhisper Breeding a Black Buck and a White Doe (or vice versa) still breeds a Solid Color. To breed a Broken, at least one of the Parents has to carry the Broken Gene, and they will produce both Solids and Brokens. Or you can Breed a Solid to a Charlie for a 100% Guaranteed Broken Rabbit Offspring. Breeding a Broken to a Broken, has a chance at producing a Solid Black, a Solid White, a Broken Black/White, and a Charlie all in the same Offspring Mix.

Did you say "Brood mare" mix? I'm trying to find out more about that. I just started raising rabbits for meat and I hadn't heard of that yet.

the god you worship advocates slaveyr and women sold as sex slaves and handed down from one generation to the next. Not such a nice religion if you study it in full. The church will never point this out to you though.

Why do you kill them, for food because that is wrong they don't even get a chance or have a chance at life it is not fair and twisted. If you think they are so beautiful don't fucking kill them sell them as pets where they can go to a loving home and have a good life. People who do this make me hurt inside. People say animals don't have feelings but they do and you should take that into consideration because it's not just physical feelings.

They are classified by cities as LIVESTOCK like cows, sheep, goats, chickens, rabbit was a very common meat pre WWII until we became heavily dependent on beef. You can't even own rabbits in most cities due to the livestock designation, they are not categorized as pets. get a grip hippy.

+FANTASY FOR REAL Do you eat Chicken? Do you eat Cow (Hamburger, etc...)? Do you eat Pork (Bacon, Ham, etc...)? Do you eat Turkey at Thanksgiving? How is Rabbit any different? Rabbit are considered a Livestock (as mentioned above), just like any other animal raised for meat. These rabbits however, grow up in a happy life, unlike some animal mills out there!

It beats nature.. When a rabbit dies in nature its eaten alive. we break their necks quickly and they have no fear or pain.

The longer I keep my rabbits as pets, the more sickening I find the idea of keeping them for meat. One can thrive very well and be very healthy without the need to kill animals, especially ones as endearing as this. In spite of the fact you feed them well and they get to run around, unlike those raised less aware, or caring individuals, who think only of their own profit it is cruel to slaughter them. So much more rewarding to live a life of compassion towards innocent creatures, and it brings good karma!
