I have 3 spoiled rotten beagles ❤❤❤ They all sleep in our bed and so do both of our cats. Good thing we have a king bed! Our beagles are on patrol constantly and they keep our garden rabbit-free. Beagles are amazing, loving dogs.

Years back, I remarried and my spouse had an under 10 lbs. Dachshund. I watched her tree squirrels in our backyard and said, "Hmmm..." The short story is we had great fun with small game, doves, quail and anything else she could find. I have had two other mini D Dachsie hunting dogs since.

My lab and my beagle sleep in my bed hunting dog does not mean they can't be spoiled

The belief that good rabbit dogs have to be kept in an outdoor kennel is nothing but a silly oldwives tale ! We had 2 beagles when I was a kid, both were indoor pets, and both were top of the line rabbit hunters.

kinda disproves all those old dudes that swear house dogs won't hunt....lol

If all it takes is being inside to ruin a dogs drive/instinct, then maybe that dog wasn't cut out for hunting in the first place lol.

The best dogs i ever had the pleasure to hunt with were spoiled little house babies, but man could they run rabbits!

Trucker and Traveler were probably 4 months old. I saw them laying on the back porch, Sphinx like, staring intently in the backyard. I finally saw what they were staring at. It was a baby rabbit. When the rabbit got to what they thought was the point of no return, they leapt off the porch giving chase. The rabbit managed to escape under the fence.

This is how I feel about our beagle. She’s a pup and is such a pet, but she’s so fast and muscular. She’s constantly tracking rabbits when we take her for her walks outside. We don’t hunt but it makes us curious about it.

You can take a dog out of hunting, but you can't take the hunting out of a dog

Man, my 6 year old beagle is 75 lbs. And strictly a house dog.

My beagle BooRabbit vould hubt with pack herself. Abd knew different scent between rabbits and deer squirrel. All i had to do eas dit and talk with her show her what i eanted her to find and she was iwn. She crued actually tears when i told ger she was too sick and i gad to let ger go. Iferl so quilty that i dudnt ket her due naturally like she asked. 😭

all dog owner should hunt with their dogs. it doesn't matter how spoiled pet the dog could be. same goes for kids.

You get out of a dog what you put into it

If you stand still and be quiet while the dog is tracking you will kill more rabbits . If you talk or move you will turn the rabbit and not get a shot

Just found out it is illegal to hunt rabbits with a dog in Colorado. Stupid stupid. You can hunt lions with dogs and birds with dogs but not rabbits?
