Such a loss for the world. This wonderful man and rabbi could have changed the world even more than he already had. Yehi zichron Baruch 💔

One year later, and R. Sacks is no longer with us. What a poignant final Pesach message. May his words be a light for our Jewish lives for generations to come.

Rabbi Lord Sacks's talk never fails to amaze me, enlighten me and thus broaden my horizons. It is those simple yet important lessons that we should learn, and so that we can make the world a better place for all of us than it was yesterday

Rabbi Sacks, I adore you. I refer to you as my Rabbi. I love your insights, your command of the language and I could go on..... But most of all, you make my proud to be a Jew. I think you are such a fabulous role model for our people. You are truly a light unto the nations as well as a light to your fellow Jews. I can see that this is an extremely difficult time for you. But please, don't ever stop. We need you now more than ever. Stay healthy.

@keter malkut I think you are too severe with yourself. And let Hashem decide who is right and who is wrong. The proof of the pudding is in the eating and we will eat in due time. Rabbis are seekers of truth and wisdom. We need them to help us on the road to bettering and accomplishment, and we all grow together, sharing the successes and failures that come the way of humans. You can agree with them or disagree but you cannot deny their sincere desire to get ever closer to the truth. Hashem is merciful and He does not demand the impossible. The world is imperfect because everything is mixed up. We are gathering bit by bit pieces of the puzzle until finally we shall get the picture. So let us be patient and humble and wish our seekers of truth success and cooperate together in order to turn this world into a good place to live. The Creator does not ask us to be perfect but perfectly imperfect.

@keter malkut I do not understand everything you said and even what I think I understood I am not sure. So I cannot think of something to say that would lead me to clarity. If you can communicate with G'od, good for you ! I should have to understand your point to be able to ask Him a clear question, and even then I am not sure to be deserving a clear answer. G'od is the king of king of kings and one cannot approach Him unless one is humble and pure and faultless in His eyes, and invited. If you have reached that level, you are in a dimension beyond my grasp. Good luck to you and I wish you success in your search for the truth.

This is so crucial, “Affliction shared is the first step to freedom as human beings”. People want a mansion with 10 rooms for themselves while there’s 10 people on the street down the road beside them. Everyone could be elevated to a high and equal level in all areas of life if we all just shared and took only out of necessity.

It is comforting to know that there is admiration from our Christian friends! So much hatred is spread across the globe simply because of our diverse religions and beliefs. If we take the time to listen to each other and pass the boundaries of our hatred and prejudices we can all learn from each other. I enjoy listening to Rabbi Saks simply because he speaks a universal language without patronising his beliefs to any one sect.

Elana Somekh to be a true Christian is to love the Jewish faith. You're supposed to love your father and mother and the Jewish faith is a parent to christianity. @@ejb7969 My family detached from me because of my orthodoxy long ago. I'm 63 and past having any school acquaintances. And the only neighbor who hasn't rejected me, I have told not to dare hesitate in contacting me if she needs ANYTHING. I believe there's a reason HaShem forced me into isolation 3 years ago. This pandemic and lockdown hasn't affected me at all. Except there's no food left in town. Thank you for your concern.

Dear Rav: The Shoresh of the Hebrew word Herut DOES appear in Exodus regarding our Freedom from Slavery. When we arrived at the Reed Sea, Exodus 14:2 it clearly says "2 'Speak unto the children of Israel, that they turn back and encamp before Pi-hahiroth, between Migdol and the sea, before Baal-zephon, over against it shall ye encamp by the sea." דַּבֵּר, אֶל-בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל, וְיָשֻׁבוּ וְיַחֲנוּ לִפְנֵי פִּי הַחִירֹת, בֵּין מִגְדֹּל וּבֵין הַיָּם: לִפְנֵי בַּעַל צְפֹן, נִכְחוֹ תַחֲנוּ עַל-הַיָּם. So there you go. Herut or Hirot is mentioned right there in the text with regards to Yetziat Mitzraim.

I find Passover sad due to the slavery and then having to leave the world's greatest civilization. When in the concentration camp, Primo Levi turned the bread of affliction into the bread of sharing and re-became Human Beings as a first step to freedom. how can we remember history so e can learn from it? What are we learning from COVID? Can we become more caring and rescue blessing from this curse?

The name of God is not "You." In Hebrew, it is Yud-Hey-Vuv-Hey, often spelled out YHVH in English. This is the only Hebrew word without vowels, so it is deemed unpronounceable. That is why we substitute the honorific title A-donai in prayer, and say HaShem, the name, in daily talk. The last part of your posting, I can't make sense of.

the true christians are in some sense outside of the time and understand the feasts as prophecy and not mandatory for themselves. the false christianity has instituded itself a vain ritual, other feasts and so called sacraments. salvation by works.

HaShem rebuked the Angels because they had not suffered and it was nothing to do with them. But the Jews say the great Hallel on Seder night and sing the Song of the Sea on day 7 to commemorate the drowning Egyptians and God does not rebuke us.
