I watched this scene when it came out and I was still pretty young and dumb. But even then I could see there was something magnificent and touching about it. Now I would notice that the amazing ending of the scene came in the aftermath of Rab praising God for His "interior design" skills, and being disappointed at having his divine moment of reverie disturbed by some English got-rich-quick yobbo types. There's real pathos here. But also something uplifting as Rab cries out about "Hands across the Sea".

Well the audience laughs and Rab comes back so there's little to hear. At the beginning he's talking about the moon and the night. And seems to be saying something like "Pallatella" (a surname). Then he says "I see", and we hear the reference to "bandi" and then he shouts out about Rab being his friend, and ends with Adios, which is said in the south of Spain without us hearing the "s" at the end.
