I CANNOT BELEIEV AN ENLIGHTENED SOUL LIKE swaw HIMSLEF FORBADE MUSIC. If he did the call tp prayer by the muezzin would not be an iconic islamic feature....music is sound...recitation of prayer is sound , sharing it with others is in sound, sound is everywjhere...Guru Nanak founder of Skhism lived with musloim sufi saints and preached that its by singing HIS praises that you attain to be one with HIM ..reach him say his name He is the source of all.Nothing in Islam says otherwise

the true and real kalyaan ang is due to DESCENDING MOVEMENTS OF NOTES shuddha swars like SRGPD (descending movements S RS GR PG DP etc) added by a trace of tivra ma and shuddha ni (optional mi and ni); MAXIMUM emphasis on saa, re, pa, and sometimes on ga, along with phrases like (underlined note means lower octave) SSRG - R --- , SGR - S GR --- P -- G --- GPR ---- , SR - S - S ----- R -- S ---- , PDP - GP -- R -- -- G- R --- S --- . limited use of other notes for flavour gives varieties of kalyaan. in shiv kalyan, the singer has used notes of jan sammohini (SRGPDn) or kalaavati with shuddh re in kalyan ang. HE HAS SUNG WELL

@raqib56 @KumarTabla I have a feeling the common among the 3 kalyans mentioned is not the kalyan thaat swaras but the prayog. madh and shiv kalyan certainly are janya raags of vachapati becuz they have strong komal nishads and not the suddha nishad.they are much closer to kalavati.in fact that kalyan in their names seems a misnomer as their chalans are not very kalyanish either execpt the N'-R-G slide at 3:08 for eg.sudh kalyan on contrary is fully kalyan thaat with bhup arohi, yaman avroh.

Ali Bhuksh Gen, was not the son of Kale Khan, his father's name was Mian Kalu Ji. Kale khan was Ali Bukhsh Kusuri's brother both hailing from Kusur :) Now known as the kusur patiala gharana :) and if akhtar hussain khan would be an ordinary singer he would have given us the Amanat Ali - Fateh Ali Duo.

Thank you very much Ji! Can you help me better understand the subtle difference between the styles of Kalyan eg. Madh Kalyan, Shiv Kalyan, Sudh Kalyan etc. So are you saying that you may have a Raag (ie. Bhopali) and its source of obtaining scales and Dhuns can be Kalyan, Bilawal, Khamaj, Kafi, Bhairaav, Todi or Poorvi etc.? Thank you for your help. :)

The problem is Islam has 3 billion versions. The most confusing is which is being implemented. It is right that most of the best classical raagas has got a muslim origin. However, according to wahhabi version of Holy-Quaraan, any kind of music is banned except Azzan. However, I am blessed that Ustaad Sabir Khan( son of Ustad Karamatulla)came to our house once (however we are Brahmins). He gave me blessings.

dear london748cc, i am afraid your information is not quite correct. the late legend ustad nusrat fateh ali khansahab had one brother, farrukh fateh ali khan ( father of raahat, the current leader of the troupe)- who too sadly passed away in 2004. nusrat and farrukh's father was also called ustad fateh ali khan - which often can be a source of confusion. however, this ustad fateh ali khan ( the patiala gharana classical singer) is unrelated to nusrat's family.
