Yes, way too much is let slip down the "memory hole". This is a less heard raag. For a more acclaimed one check out Raag Lalit

The more I hear it, the more I'm sure I want to do it as a job for the rest of my life. It's divine.

I always come back to Hariprasad Chaurasia when I want to be remembered that all you need really is a piece of bamboo to make some of the most beautiful music ever created.

Some may not be heartless. People trained in gayaki style flute playing find this style very static and beginner'ish'. Listen to Pannalal Ghosh, Devendra Murdeshwar, to get a ln insight of what I am saying.

This is a wonderful composition. I've enjoyed Hari ji's music for so many years. One point I wanted make is that I've noticed when albums are uploaded, a lot of times the tabla players name is not included in the details. As a tabla player myself, I think it's important to include tabla accompanists name in the credits. The tabla players contribution to the performance is also very important.

Yes!! I was just looking through the comments to see if anyone knew who the tabla player is. Youre right. To me a good tabla player is just as much a star as the flautist is.

I really like wooden (bamboo?) flute music from India (as well as Tibet, South American indigenous peoples, etc.) So beautiful, like a kite, bird, feather or leaf floating suspended and swimming in the air. Hari=Lord Krishna, Prashad= Blessings, in Hindi ashis,yia asirbaad. He is literally blessed by Ma Sarda,& as well as lord krishna. When panditji keeps his leaps on his flute, it seems Krishna is giving message through his flute to his radha, naked feet radha is running out from her in-laws house towards jamuna river, beside where shayam is waiting for "premdarshan" eagerly.🙏 panditji.

I'm so grateful! Now this is music! There is so much fabricated instrumental sound in 'new age' music and it just doesn't have any real positive effect on the soul in comparison to music played so skillfully and from the heart as this. I believe that because it is natural, that it's sound is produced with actual air (breath) and that the notes are played by human hand and through a natural object, in this case a wooden flute that is made of an element from this earth, it can successfully evoke an emotion within the spirit and soul that cannot be duplicated by synth. The notes themselves and their sequence certainly came through this soul who composed it via 'the one' (through the musicians heart) and for all of these reasons is can properly heal, and touch our hearts. Thank you and bless your soul Raag Patdeep 🙏🏼😇♥️

Janet, music must be felt by the soul, not just heard thru the ears. That’s when it really touches your heart and lifts your spirits. Hariprasad Chaurasia does this every time the flute touches his lips. He has been touching my heart for over 45 years now. Thank God he ran away from home as a little boy to follow his heart and become a Musician rather than become a weight lifter like his father insisted he should become!!!

Thank you also for sharing this interesting piece of history of Hariprasad Chaurasia, I'm so grateful also that he followed his heart even though he had to defy his father's wishes! Not always are parents wiser than the child, the child is led by God better as with him, there are never any ego-driven, pre-conceived reasons. 🙏🏼♥️

I love how he always adds a second flute as a complement to the genius of his original inspiration

I am a big fan of Chaurasiya ji..

Flutes are among my favorite instruments but nothing compares to the instrument of the mind that when in tune with the heart inspires all things.
