I agree with you. I’m no mechanic but common sense tells me that better airflow equates to less engine protection.

That's a perfectly logical rationale, however, every time I lift a K+N filter out of any of my bikes or car I have a really good look with a bright torch on the "clean" side of the air box and swipe with a dampened paper towel, it is clean enough to eat off. If using original and expensive ( in Australia) paper air filters, some owners let them go too long due to replacement cost and due to "choking" to a degree , more fuel goes unburnt through the works only causing premature gumming up of chamber and ports etc. The caveat I put on K+N use is that the cleaning/re-oiling is done more regularly than what K+N tell you on the packet and likewise don't over oil it and ensure the rubber surround is well coated , I use red rubber grease for that, but any grease or thick oil will do. Miles and smiles to all.

Hi there. Great explanation as always. In a couple of weeks I will change my AriFilter DIY so all what you explained where also my doubts. Since I’m not a racer (although my R NineT is 😊) I will go for the Paper filter. Thanks and cheers to New Zealand. BTW: Could you share some thoughts about traditional Lead Batteries and new smaller, probably more resilient, Lithium Batteries? 🙏🏼 Or drop a nice video.

Hey @mars5150, thanks for your friendly comment. As for the lithium vs Traditional batteries. Personally I'd not switch to a lithium battery at this stage, if I needed a new battery, I'd install a stock standard YUASA high performance AGM. The reason "WHY" does need a video really. In short lithium batteries need more "love" and cost more than absorbed glass matt (AGM) batteries. But I'll add a battery video to my list as sometimes batteries get changed when they are perfectly fine and the real problem is elsewhere, which can be frustrating to realise. My current and original factory battery is approximately 9 years old and still going strong👊✊️👍😀

I've been using K+N filters for many years, currently in my three boxers. Easy to wash in warm dishwasher detergent, rinse and dry outside. Proper sealing of the rubber surround with rubber grease type product is important.

THREE BOXERS!!!😃 I completely understand your passion for the Boxer. If only my workshop and bank account were big enough to buy more. A vintage/classic would be nice! 😁. What are the boxers you have? Not sure why im asking, I'll just be envious😆

Good on you for doing the maintenance yourself!! It adds an entire other dimension to the joy and passion we all have of motorcycles. Take care out there👍👊✊

Hey bud, your videos are super awesome and helpful. I recently picked up 2020 r9t. Love it so far. But few things just not going very smoothly. Gas light is stayed on even i filled up fully. Also, heated grip is not turning completely off, it just stuck between half and full heat. Any suggestions or thoughts? Thank you

  • @outtheresomewhere

Hey @arun S 😀, thanks for the question. And I'm really happy to hear you are enjoying the videos💚. The problem with the heated grips could be an electrical connection which would require the grip to be removed and circuit tested/connectors checked. The Fuel light could be a dodgy connector under the tank next to the fuel delivery lines or the float sticking inside the tank in a downward position. But given your bike should still be under a factory warranty, I'd first take it to the dealer and get them to fix it under warranty. You dont want to void your warranty by doing it yourself unnecessarily. 🙂👊✊️👍
