Awesome work!!!
Very dope build!
Verry cool! I'm gonna print my own R5-J2 and watched your video as an introduction, thanks!
I love the 3d printed ships scaled for 12" hot toys figures! i need a 6 foot tall tie fighter in my living room!
This R2 looks excellent. I've had my 3D printer for about 2 years now, intending to print an 2R, but I'm still unsure how to use it. I have a Creality CR10 as well, so I've decided to start it in 2024. You've inspired me. Thanks for posting this.

I just got my 3d printer and this video inspired me as well! My dream has always been to print a life size R2D2 and make it a remote control and have it in parades!!!
Beautifully done!
Awesome! That Chrysler Blue really does look good!
Impressive most impressive
I cant wait to 3D print my own R2D2 when i have just a little more money!
He looks great, you did a fantastic job, I would be thrilled to have one in my house
Very cool build. I bought an Ender 3 Pro because I wanted a M41a Pulserifle, I knew virtually nothing about 3 D printing but this was the only way I could get this model here apart from a cardmodel. I just jumped in boots and all and it turned out well but I agree it's a learning process.
Love your enthusiasm. Nice work!
That’s a beautiful r2 u did a great job on it specially being your 2nd thing u printed, it wouldn’t take much to put electronics in that to get him rolling around. I’m sure there’s plenty of guys close to ya to help ya out 👍. I’m hoping to get my r2 rolling around in the next week or 2.
Talented man!!
Great job! I can't wait to build one of my own this winter.
It needs a Blu-ray tray!
That's amazing. I had no idea that website existed and now I want my own astromech.
That is Awesome.
Looks superb!!! You should be proud
Great weathering!
Love the video !! Keep it up !
Amazing work! You have some serious skills.
Thanks brother! Great video. I'm going to show this to my students. I think this will be one of our spring Engineering projects.

Awesome video, I subscribed!
Great job mate! I hope I can get around to making one. Not sure I can fit the on a P1P tbh.
Awesome work. I've been looking into building one and considering the 3d printing. Do you mind sharing the approximate cost in filament / paint?

It was so long ago and so much trial and error went into it that I don't have the cost of filament and paint. I can tell you that I went in with the goal of spending less than $500. I may have spent more due to some miss prints, more support than needed, and not having my print bed leveled correctly at the time. Paint wasn't much at all... $30-$40. The electronics did cost me about two hundred by itself, but that was something I got much later.
Phenomenal!!! Any idea what the final cost was?

It's been so long since I've printed it, but I would say it was $500-$600. I did go through quite a bit of trial and error with the filament as I was still getting used to the 3D printer and the electronics cost me a little bit. The main benefit was that I didn't have to pay all that money at once as it was spread out over a few months of printing.
What 3d printer did you use? I need a large printer for life size projects.
Where on the site did you get all of the files, because I can't find them. Thank you!

The site is not the easiest to navigate through. I think I ended up searching through the message board to track down the files that I ended up using. This was years ago that I downloaded the files, so I imagine they have some updated files.
That's awsome. Is it expensive to get into 3d printing and is it expensive for the materials? I would love to do this.

There's a little investment up front, but not too expensive for what it is. You can get a 3D printer for under $300. The filament used to print is usually around $15 and you can usually knock out some awesome prints with just one. R2 took quite a few, but most prints in my house are much, much smaller.
i got most of my R2 done printed wise re doing some prints the skirt wasnt happy with WHAT VERSION IS THIS OF R2 build im doing version 2 i see this was a year ago you posted so im thinking same as im doing with the blue its ford pearl blue

I got it from astromech.net. They have every single mech droid file on there with many variations. You have to register to it, but it's free.
hello !!!! I greet you from Ecuador 🇪🇨!!! How long did it take you to print R2D2?❤
What type of printer did you use ?

I used a CR-10 print this one. In fact, I still use the CR-10 for the majority of my larger prints and I use Peopoly Resin printer for the smaller stuff.
Now the question unless it's already been asked, are you going to be making more to sell? Amazing work

This is easy 6 months to a year long project. Not allowed to sell whole r2 units it's part of the club rules it's something you need to do yourself
