    This R2 looks excellent. I've had my 3D printer for about 2 years now, intending to print an 2R, but I'm still unsure how to use it. I have a Creality CR10 as well, so I've decided to start it in 2024. You've inspired me. Thanks for posting this.

    Very cool build. I bought an Ender 3 Pro because I wanted a M41a Pulserifle, I knew virtually nothing about 3 D printing but this was the only way I could get this model here apart from a cardmodel. I just jumped in boots and all and it turned out well but I agree it's a learning process.

    That’s a beautiful r2 u did a great job on it specially being your 2nd thing u printed, it wouldn’t take much to put electronics in that to get him rolling around. I’m sure there’s plenty of guys close to ya to help ya out 👍. I’m hoping to get my r2 rolling around in the next week or 2.

    Awesome work. I've been looking into building one and considering the 3d printing. Do you mind sharing the approximate cost in filament / paint?

  • @thepropwiz7121

    @thepropwiz7121

    It was so long ago and so much trial and error went into it that I don't have the cost of filament and paint. I can tell you that I went in with the goal of spending less than $500. I may have spent more due to some miss prints, more support than needed, and not having my print bed leveled correctly at the time. Paint wasn't much at all... $30-$40. The electronics did cost me about two hundred by itself, but that was something I got much later.

    Phenomenal!!! Any idea what the final cost was?

  • @thepropwiz7121

    It's been so long since I've printed it, but I would say it was $500-$600. I did go through quite a bit of trial and error with the filament as I was still getting used to the 3D printer and the electronics cost me a little bit. The main benefit was that I didn't have to pay all that money at once as it was spread out over a few months of printing.

    The site is not the easiest to navigate through. I think I ended up searching through the message board to track down the files that I ended up using. This was years ago that I downloaded the files, so I imagine they have some updated files.

    That's awsome. Is it expensive to get into 3d printing and is it expensive for the materials? I would love to do this.

  • @thepropwiz7121

    @thepropwiz7121

    There's a little investment up front, but not too expensive for what it is. You can get a 3D printer for under $300. The filament used to print is usually around $15 and you can usually knock out some awesome prints with just one. R2 took quite a few, but most prints in my house are much, much smaller.
