r³ to Beastie Boys - The New Style (reaction) | reacting to reactors reacting

In this video, reacting to reactors reacting takes a look at Beastie Boys' 1986 wholly underated hip hop track, The New Style. Reaching #22 on the US 'Hot Black Singles' chart, the beats from this song have been sampled innumerously. A classic.

@@r2rr I was going for the meta-joke about how reaction video comments always say stuff like 'It's so great to see these young kids listen to Pink Floyd for the first time, I remember seeing them in Budapest when I was in the army blah blah....' I was considering the alternate punchline of making a bunch of requests for different ShaggyReacts videos. "Do some of his early stuff next, man!' Seriously though, I love what you are doing here, can't wait to see the next one.

Luv the 80s beasties and was actually sorry they claim to be embarrassed by some of the lyrics. They were barely past their teens at the time and it was a totally different era. Hate that everything has to be sanitized by today's standards.

@@wilander1 It's not today's standards. The Beasties moved away from that kind of "guns and women" style of lyrics after Paul's Boutique so from Check Your Head in 1992 onwards they had become more conscious of what they were putting out lyrically. The 90's alternative scene was full of people being more socially conscious and fighting against entrenched stereotypes. Kurt Cobain, Kathleen Hanna, Kim Gordon and yes even the Beastie Boys were outspoken feminists even if some of their fans didn't like it or want to admit it.

R3 you are so OG. The B Boys started me down such a winding road of hip hop / rap / rock since 86. Such finds as Kool mo D, LL, Rakim, PE,Doug E fresh, and just that north eastern rap emergence. Took lots of heat in HS for being white and just immersing in the art. Thanks for bringing the boys back into the light. Recalibrating my ears from my 80s cassette of license to ill played on my sony walkman with those crappy orange foam headphones to today, the sound just blows my mind. Some of these reactions get it but you nailed it. Loving your stuff!

THE last thing I'm gonna say about this... I think the gap in understanding this between the generations is that I don't believe they know what a "Rap BATTLE" is. These kids may have wandered through the livingroom while their parents or grandparents hade 8 Mile playing on tv or whatever, but it's been decades since there was any fighting for anything by making music. I may be wrong. That's why the wicked vulgarity and whips and changes with beats and tempos, and scratching like you're smacking somebody in the face with it. My favorite line of almost any song ever, "I'll steal your hunny like I stole your bike!!" Shamefully, I have actually used that a time or two in real life. Yes, this 5ft tall white girl was not afraid of anybody or anything. I wouldn't have wasted the time of day on their boyfriends anyway, but the people I was fronting didn't need to that. Lol. I've pretty much grown up since then, unless I'm joking around. It's still SO fun to say!

yeah, the biggest problem with reaction videos is the constant pausing, which inhibits their ability to fully get the vibe and pacing of the song. the best reactors watch the whole video straight through and then give their opinions and insights. i especially can't stand when they try to discern or figure out the lyrics on their own instead of just googling the fucking lyrics and having them at hand so they don't need to interrupt the flow of the music.

Think he normally feels it. cant wait to see what you say. I like both of you. Respect My reaction to follow. lol Around Check Your Head they found a new path and quit saying most of the sexist, violent and homophobic stuff. The would say things like "I got a 22 karat tooth on my person." Also I've seen them live 7 or 8 times starting in 92 in Miami. I've counted all the dances on all the albums at one point Mike D claims at least 10 dances. I like what you to Triple R. We come form a efferent time this was cutting edge a few years before this it was 3 guys rapping over a live band covering a disco song. This had production, it was funny, the flow the 808. I'm more of a Beasties, PE, Run DMC, LL, T La Roc, I'm Biz was insane etc than I am a Full Force person. They will never understand this Hip Hop before it was an industry and it was just coming out of the dark ages as far as Hip Hop. Keep doing what you do and you funny as hell and you're kind and understand. Great Job! Heres my 2 cents on watching reaction videos....I prefer a short intro to the persons channel and what they will be reacting to.... then if they do stop throughout the video, keep it to like 4 times throughout the video and keep the thoughts reasonably short. And what i really like is when they do stop to comment, they roll back the video about 5 seconds and continue where they left off. A lot of reactors do this but not all of them. Like i said, thats just my personal preference.

What SwaggyReacts is doing right is listening to the Beastie Boys songs that the bboys fans want to. hear and he does it with charisma. The other reactors are just doing the BBoy songs that are most popular on KZread. Copying each other and overreacting like clowns. I agree though, he could articulate a bit better and pause a little less, especially since the BBoys are not blocking videos.

On a Friday night...at like 7:00...I was on my way to pick up a HOT girl, for our first date...my friend called and said he had an extra backstage pass, for a Beastie Boys concert.........I was like " I'd Love to, but terrible timing "............had a Great time on my date, but in retrospect....should have took the pass....Bad Timing/ No notice. = /

OK I hit the subscribe button because all these points that you made about his reactions I was thinking LOL. 30seconds plus intro nonstop pausing, and then not saying anything. But I still watch him because his reactions are funny. Just needs to clean up a little. React to no life shaq please

Thank you for subscribing! He is funny and worth watching. Just not touching on some things I think are important in a song in a 'reaction' video. But we're all doing our best.

I love the reaction to the reaction. I gave that swaggy guy 2 chances. He stopped way too many times during the song. Loses all rhythm and flow. I understand that's his style, but not liking "The New Style"! 🤣

This reactor is really frustrating - he stops ALOT and is often irrelevant. He has no concept of where to stop. I can't subscribe to him...

He had fun with this song, but no real song breakdown. But that's enough for a lot of people, nothing wrong with that. I just want a little more.
