@@1Bluefur What's wrong with parking on an incline?
@1Bluefur
Жыл бұрын
@@netts2315 Nothing inherently. I just know for some people depending on the car and what issues it might have, it might feel like a hassle or too risky or something to park on an incline. I know personally, since I drive stick, I'm not super keen on parking on inclines since it feels like more work to get out of. That might be petty but meh, just how I feel sometimes. I guess with an automatic it'll probably feel less like a hassle but I dunno. I have really limited experience driving an automatic rofl.

@@1Bluefur I can understand the manual issue (my dad always parked the Jetta on the street rather than the driveway), as well as some old people have stability issues with inclines. However, just remember when you park there to watch that first step; it can be a real doozy (depending which way you pull in). Which makes it more likely to be a repair bay than a daily spot.

Fun fact: Tim Hortons now uses branded ministicks to stick the debit machine out the window. For those unsure as to what those mean, Tim Hortons a Canadian donut and coffee shop similar to Krispy Kreme, and a ministick is a hockey stick used in mini hockey, which is similar to road hockey, but done with smaller balls, smaller sticks and smaller nets.

The device at 12:20 is a trommel (device for sifting large amounts of dirt). Me and my dad built one a few years back out of aluminium bike wheels, steel brackets, chicken wire and a cement mixer. For some reason, this episode reminds me of the time I made a bottle rocket gun in high school shop class. I took a piece of pipe, bent the last 1/3 of it 90 degrees for a handle, then cut the pipe and welded the two pieces to a plate to made sure the bottle rockets wouldn't slide too far down the pipe. Finally welded a little hole in the bottom of the pipe to stick the bottle rocket fuse through. It looked like crap, but it worked perfectly and I was able to shoot bottle rockets wherever I wanted to.
That colander lampshade wouldn't be ugly at all if they removed the handles. I bet you can just snap them off with some pliers or something, then repaint the whole thing.

The paper towels kind of make sense because they are commonly sold in packs of 6 or 8. That's what I tend to buy at least. The door contraption seems like a clever way to store them since they are a bulky thing to store.
Guy I knew back in college worked for Volvo Trucks before he started college. He had a job fixing faults in the truck seats on new production trucks (where the seat didn't make it thru quality control), so he had access to both parts (slightly used), the knowhow to fix the parts and a complete schematic of the most luxurious of truck seating available anywhere. So he took home lightly broken parts, fixed them and constructed a computer chair out of a heated, air-conditioned, massaging, adjustable-lumbar-support-cushioned, air-ride truck seat with leather upholstery mounted on a metal baseplate fitted with tiny little casters so he could move it about. He had a mini air compressor with a 20 litre air tank to control all the functions. Oh, and he also had it converted to 220V instead of 12V so he could use a standard houseplug to plug it in. It was f-ing glorious and probably the most comfortable computer chair that exists anywhere. I heard from a buddy that he still has that thing 20 years later, and the only thing to have happened is that the upholstery is starting to wear thin.

The control dial on air friers, crock pots, etc are usually made of the most flimsy plastic and the knobs are hard to turn, so the knobs usually break and become useless so keep pliers around to allow for turning... using a washer is actually a genius move.
14:00 Also provices a safe way to work underneath a car, without relying on jacks or axle stands.
I love how half of the things in this video either make me think "Oh God! They are going to die and it's gonna hurt!" or "I have done that exact thing" or "Oh shit, that's awesome." Welcome to North Carolina, y'all.
17:06 the dog part refers to the fact that dogs do not understand that one is not supposed to step on other people's feet. Imagine you had a broken toe and then someone steps on your foot. A dog having two extra feet does not help.

16:59 Ok so there are two ways I interpret this: 1. They steel-toed their shoes because they have 6 dogs that would very much like to munch and break the shoe’s toes or 2. They have 6 dogs running around their house and somehow this contraption is supposed to stop them from hurting the dogs if they accidentally step on their toes.
The bike spinning the tube is a classifier. You pour soil or whatever you're classifying in it, and then sit on the bike and pedal, anything smaller than the squares in the fencing falls out... usually into a bin below, and now you have a source of material that's finer than the mesh you have on the tube. You can use finer and finer meshes to get finer and finer output. Obviously you start with your largest mesh first so that the system doesn't get clogged up, and get finer meshes until you get to the desired sizing ( think screen door mesh for really fine stuff ). Depending on what your classifying, you may also have water sprayers on it to help move things along. It's actually really useful for creating gardening soil from less than ideal sources, which you will then mix with your fertilizer or soil amendments of choice. I've also seen one used to get gravel of a specific size for mixing with concrete to get a consistent finish upon curing.
16:53 It means that they’re trying to protect their broken toe from getting stepped on by the six dogs running around.
Gotta love the dingalings. Where they do this is where a virgin is a girl who is faster than her brother.
2:00 You don’t need platelights in Illinois. Been driving a car without them for years. Lot of cars without them too.
14:00 is fixed car repair stand, for very convenient oil changes and underbody coating etc. No need to spend ton for car lift, or expensive garage bills. my neighbor had at one point this (made from wood so it got old and was demolished).
When the standards fall as low as "as long as it doesn't kill anyone"
5:26 You aren’t? Got like eight plates from past cars.
The concrete ramps at around 14:00 are probably either an old school way to get access under a vehicle without relying on jack stands where if youre coming at it from the lawn side, the only way for it to fail is away from you. That, or its for loading up something like a four wheeler into a pickup. Back the pickup up to the ramps, drop the tailgate, drive it on. My dad and i used to do something similar but we had a natural little hill to back up to in the yard
Maan I love this subreddit. I wan't MORE!
@7:40 lexi it’s called a pan hard rod , lots of older trucks used them to help with rear/front end cornering stability
14:10 it's for changing the oil without a car elevator.
Those concrete ramps next to the garage (on the grass) are a makeshift lift, so someone can park the car their and work underneath it without a jack.
Bottle lids as temporary sink plugs have been something my family has done for ages! Previous renters stole all the plugs, and the bathroom sinks were stupid small so we just used lids.
14:02 can be used to easily change the oil on your vehicle with the slight upward angle to help drain old oil which is most likely the reason for it initial creation.
Watching "Customer States" videos online have made me so glad we have yearly car inspections in Finland.
7:36 thats probably a tie rod or a sway bar and yeah that would work fine as a trail fix or something just to get where you are going

12:25 looks like what we use here in alaska to get all the big rocks out of potential paydirt (dirt with gold dust/flakes in it that some people use for panning) idk about more southern panning/mining methods but I'm guessing it's something similar
4:46 I 3D printed a 120mm fan - to - 4" duct adapter to some flex aimed out the hallway. Even got another fan inline with the duct for when the PC fan doesn't cut it.
12:25 its a trommel. Used for sifting things. Pretty easy to sift lead and brass from dirt on a shoot range, which is kinda what this looks like
17:57 just pull the tube along a sharp corner like you're straightening a dollar bill
11:51 Dude literally just made one of the old Wii attachments 😂
13:18 I built my 4 year old sister a light switch extender because she can’t reach it. We have to keep the light on all day so she can use the bathroom when ever she needs to. It will save a lot of money for the electricity bill.
14:18 looks like a way to lift a car up without using chocks or jacks. Previous owner might have been a car fan, and wanted a permanent setup. Proximity to garage means they can pull it out and work on it easily, and natural slope means no standing water in the work area underneath. Similar to a hoist at a garage just on a personal scale.
12:34 - That is a bike powered rotary trommel - it sorts dirt by size. Useful for gardening.
17:48 I remember fixing the family fridges door handle as a kid. It broke off one day and I glued it back on with a lot of tape. It didn't look that ugly and worked for about a half year until my parents replaced the fridge. Today I would just print a new one in my 3D printer. But those things weren't available back then.
1:57 They most certainly do. Got pulled over in Mexico Maine at 2 in the morning because of it. Even got a service sidearm pointed at my head for going to the glove box to get my ID.
The bike powered roller thing is commonly known as a Trommel, and is used to aid in the process of gold mining, but can be used in several other mining processes
The concrete pads at 14:01 in the video is an old car ramp people use to build these to raise the vehicle off the ground just high enough to get under them to do work. Like an oil change or something along those lines.
I think the bike powered thing Lexi thought was a combine is a trommel, which is used in gold ore processing. New mines use much bigger ones.
12:29 it reminds me of one of the machines they use to wrap trees at cut-your-own Christmas tree farms
The plastic bowl lids for tail lights, reminds me of when my gf’s dad did a similar fix to her car using the red lid from a coffee tin. It was honestly genius, especially if you have to be on a tiny budget.
5:07 "thermal cooling" --> How bad is it if your phone burns your hands if you play roblox on it and the screen starts flashing? Goes back to normal after cooling down.
