@@Bukki13asically, they sold the channel back when people didn’t know to NOT do that, the company that bought it went out of business and was bought by Rhett and Link around 2013, I think, and in 2016-2017, Anthony left. Ian had been running for a while and was super stressed, while Anthony was working on himself and growing as a person, a few weeks ago, they decided to come back together and buy Smosh from Rhett and Link.

Its these kinds of posts that restore my faith in mankind
I stayed in the Hasbros Childrens Hospital when I was a teenager- I was on the 6th floor, which is the floor for people dealing with mental problems (such as wanting to end their own life). We weren't able to see the lights that were flashing on the lower buildings due to us being so high up, but some very kind people had boats in the water, and used their search lights to flash up at us. I'll never forget that extra step of kindness, making sure we could see the lights, even being so high up. I was only there for a week, but I always looked forward to the lights. Thank you to anyone who has ever flashed those lights- they mean a lot, and it really is magical for us 💖

the tape thing reminded me of a few years back, my mom's mom died of breast cancer when my mom was only 13 and i always could tell it affected her quite a bit even if she never really said it. One day while rummaging through stuff we found a tape and my mom was super surprised when we put it on, it was her mom's voice just doing normal stuff. It was a tape recorded because they knew she wasn't gonna be there for much longer. It really warmed all of our hearts my mom seemed really happy it was also fun to hear my mom as a kid being a little shit in the background too lol.

My dad was shit, tbh. Don't worry about what you're missing. If your mom raises you alone and with care, that's more than enough to make up for a dad. Value the people who are already in in your life rather than lamenting about those you wish were there. Idk your whole situation, but I'm sure your mom would be overjoyed to know you value her more for taking on both parental roles.

2:52 An archive of 26,000 tapes worth of original programming stretching back to the channel's debut in 1966. That is an absolute treasure trove of media. Especially since the archive dates back to sixties, when junking tapes was practically an industry pastime. I hope they're able to release physical copies on Blu-ray or DVD. Hell, even flash drive copies would be cool and would help in the preservation process.

I love it too!! I wonder if I’ll ever hear my name.. it’s really rare (moreso because of the spelling than the pronunciation) so I doubt it lol XD
The one about the girl changing her name and her uncle being so supportive of her was so wholesome to me. In high school I wanted to change my name, like her, only because I’m not a fan of my name and I want a cooler one. My parents weren’t supportive at all and my dad called me selfish for it but my German teacher was so supportive and for 3 years straight, even when I had told her I gave up on being called the cooler name, always called me it and it was very nice and sweet of her. She was a great person.

The Recovering Bigot, (and some of the other dad related posts) hit me... My dad's been gone for a LONG time, now... But he had his issues, from you know, coming from the south and was a Boomer as Hell... But during my childhood, I watch him go from a racist and a homophobe, to walking up to my friends at graduation and hugging them, telling them he was so proud of all of us, and at his funeral, I spent the first day kicking his hateful family out over their disdain of a pall bearer being black... For the homophobe thing, he went from that, to looking at my "Twin" (We were born 2 minutes apart, next room older, and I'm the older) who is gay, and telling her that he supported her, and wanted to see her get married to the woman of her dreams one day... The Father's Day one hit me for different reasons, but I smiled behind the tears of missing both my dad and my son, and I'm gonna hug my teen who brought me here... And she will hate it lol.
as someone who is distantly invested in lost media, YES, PLEASE PRESERVE THIS STUFF BEFORE A WHOLE LOTTA STUFF BECOMES LOST.
i dont know why but the tape thing made me both smile and cry a little a few years ago my sister found some of our old tapes in the garage, and since our garage was so messy she took it upon herself to burn every last one of those tapes i dont know why she thought that was a good idea but i know somewhere in that pile of tape recordings was my dads skydiving tape and my parents wedding i kind of wish that we had been able to get them digitized before she for some stupid reason decided to burn all of them

I’m not a recovering addict but I know people who are. The chips are available for every year of sobriety. I just wanna say on that last one, too many people see prisoners as sub human. And it reflects in our Department of "Corrections", which never really does any correcting. It's really a Department of Punishment. And we do nothing to help set these people up for success when they serve their time. Why? Because the system is addicted to slave labor, and that's no exaggeration.

@14:50 imagine her surprise to find out that women exist in every single one of those career fields on exactly the same level as men.
We need to preserve the past to learn from it for the future, digitizing things that are close to disintegrating is so important. Goes for books and tapes and really anything else.
6:18 is when Robin goes on the tangent of wanting to be mad at 4,094 people that wanted him to live against his will.
My mom's boyfriend (they're not married) has been my father figure for almost 11 years now. Two years ago, I surprised him with adoption papers for father's day. We'll be celebrating the second anniversary of my adoption in a few months, and even though it's been that long, I am still over the moon about it. Now nobody can tell us that he isn't my real dad, because we have the papers to prove he is.
Love this subreddit tbh, and I love that Robin got to narrate for it!
Instead of "Where's Anthony", some people will comment "Who's Anthony" and that honestly breaks my heart.

I love the idea of saving old media. We’ve done a pretty good job of saving and restoring old music, but tv, movies and video games need the same love. Just look at how much Doctor Who we’ve lost 😢
3:19 AGREED! Hooooly heck, AGREED! There are MANY movies, tv specials, and tv edits of movies that STILL have not been digitized that REALLY need to be. Like the extended tv edit of Emmet Otters Jugband Christmas (WITH the old commercials and KERMIT THE FROG AS THE NARRATOR!). Or the tv version of, “He’s My Girl”, which used the ORIGINAL soundtrack, not random popular pop songs of the 80’s. Or Kraft Presents Walt Disney’s 10th Anniversary, WITH the Kraft commercials and recipes. Or the US tv release of LEGENDS with Tom Cruise and Tim Curry (it’s the BEST version of the movie, because it mixes the best of the US movie release and the UK movie release. And NO, the directors cut is NOT the same.).
