Namaste Gayatri is a chhanda or a method of versification consisting of predominately three lines of eight letters each.In this style we find many mantras of many deities. Apart from the 8|8|8 Style which is predominant , Gayatri has around 10 other variants. In Gita, Shri Krishna says that among all chhandas, He is Gayatri, thus the gayatri style of versification is considered most powerful. Rig veda has 2456 mantras in gayatri chhanda. A follower of any particular deity can chant His/Her Gayatri mantra 108 times daily. The Mahanarayana Upanishad , Section One ,can be referred as it contains several gayatri mantras. Thanks.

Suppose you have done net 80 negative things in past life, but you are doing 50 positive deed this life, then next birth -80+50=-30 will be your future birth debt. So present deed also matters, as per what i have learnt.
