Michael Stipe acknowledges your understanding of vowel sounds in English yet constitutes his own for purpose.
Best song on the debut album... maybe their best song period, IMO.

These lyrics are different from the album version, I wish I could find a transcript of the lyrics of this version, I've looked online and found nothing.
this song is addicting. it’s literally my favorite r.e.m. song
Bill berry is the man.
Same could be said for Sitting still, Shaking through, and perfect circle. Murmur was an astounding album.
I can't imagine the music without Michael's voice.
when I hear this I no longer need my antideppresants

I saw a full version of this show once, this was by far the best song they did that night, though that could just be that this is my favorite REM Song
Great, awesome! I never realized the lyrics were "lied to, lied to, laughing at you." I always thought it was logic, logic...laughing at you...thanks so much. Reminds me of a stormy day I holed up at my boyfriend's house alone and spent hours writing down/translating the lyrics. I was totally obsessed with both Murmur and Reckoning like that.

I could watch this over & over
REM was one of the greatest rock bands of the 20th and 21st centuries! They laid down the foundation for what we call alternative rock today!
I think Bill Berry is singing the chorus with Michael Stipe.
One of my favourites on Murmur: many thanks for posting!
This song is like a security blanket to me
Their best song on Murmur. Mike and Bill's bg vocals make this track.
Underground na sua máxima expressão.
Of course I love this!
I’ve got a fever! And the only prescription is more Rickenbacher!
Tend to agree--definitely top three.
AWESOME! Would that I'd be there.
@bassmanjoe Let's Active opened. You can see Mitch sitting in here: R.E.M. - 1.000.000 - Moral Kiosk (The Pier, Raleigh, NC. 1982-10-10) (Part 3/6)
@BipolarPics Bill Berry sings the backing vocals, too.
At least with my headphones in the audio sounds surprisingly good here. REM was at its best from 82-84.
Is he wearing a damn Mayakovsky-style turnip as a boutonniere.
@BipolarPics Mike does the "ahhhs" on this song, they have very specific parts :-)
"Hey is Mitch out there?!"

IS HE????
When drumming starts it remains a bit the beginning of The Cure's Just Like Heaven
everyone is a shapeshifter like Michael, a new man every three months due to cellular reproduction and new versions of you by nature.

The lyrics now are different. Anybody know what the lyrics are for the 2nd line? “Laocoon and her 2 sons......?”

LSD for sure.
Who is singing the chorus with Stipe? It's clearly not Mike Mills.

Mills does sings backup -- you can see in about the middle of the song.
this lyrics is different...
It's just so quite quite terrible, but I thinks it's intentional.
